today in west bainbridge i saw a sign for an estate sale, after following the signs ended up on hales landing road (off spring creek road). upon our arrival we see the people who own the antique store on shotwell right on the corner. this was not an estate sale but high priced stuff right out of their shop. an example would be a set of cake pans for 150.00. everything in the sales was very expensive. should have saved my gas and went to their store on the corner. just saying.....

The place you're talking about is Jacobik's Antiques off from the square, and yes, I went to the "estate sale" too and it was just a bunch of BS from their store. I also heard they buy whole estates in the area from grieving families and the resale everything for huge amounts. They are why we don't ever have any nice estate sales around here. The woman up there is a straight B**** and her husband isn't much better.

This lady does make her living by organizing estate sales and I am certain that she does take the remainder for resale in her store or take it to auction. I would imagine that part of the estate sale contract has an option for consignment in her brick and mortar building. The family may have given her instructions as to what items they felt should be sold at what price. That does happen. Additionally, it is not an uncommon practice for people to buy out an estate. I don't think what she is doing is unethical as she can charge what ever she feels is best, after all, you do not have to buy it. I will concede that her attitude leaves a lot to be desired AND I for one will not buy from her or sell to her because of that haughty attitude. Face it, when one is in sales they have to treat people well to make it in business.
