Depends on how the ex wife treats him and if the custody is fair. Everyone knows that the system is unfair to dads when it come to child support and custody but either way a father should take care of his responsibility.

it doesn't matter how she treats him! The child still deserves to be financially cared for by both of them not just the mother (and the state in most cases)! No I am not divorced. Still married to the father of all of my children after 25 years! I do know a DEADBEAT dad however and I do not agree with the way he handles his situation at all!

I am not a dead beat dad. I take care of my wife and daughter. But, I know great dads that stopped paying child support. They give money directly to the kids since the piece of crap mother takes the so called child support and gets her hair done, her nails done. Always walking around in new clothes. We all know they get food stamps. So actually, the mother does not have any type of responsibility. Just the father. So actually, lets talk about the piece of crap mothers. The fathers are hardly ever dead beats. The mothers let the kids walk around and do what ever they want no matter the danger. They dont take care of the kids. A father is more fit sometimes, but the crappy legal system will never see it that way. The mothers are the dead beats. Not the dads. You should change this topic.

to be considered a "dad" one should actually play the part. not being financially responsible to your children (regardless of your relationship with the ex-wife or custody arrangements) does not make you a "dad" in my book. besides, anyone can be a sperm donor/dad...its takes a real man to be a father. i am currently battling my ex over child support and other monies he owes to for the care of our children through our divorce agreement. he wont hold a job long enough for child support enforcement to garnish him or gets paid under the table so its not traceable. he sees our children as scheduled and would be welcomed to do so more often if he cared to. we dont have the best relationship, who cares, i divorced him cause i didnt like him. why would i care if he likes me now or not. we dont have to like each other in order for our children to be taken care of. in my case, the least communication and face to face interaction is best, for me and for my children. thank GOD that i married a man that was willing to step up to the plate and care about and help support two children are not his. that, in most cases, is the problem. dead beat dads know that someone is more than likely going to come along to take care of their kids so they dont have to, be it the state or another man. i do not agree that the "system" is unfair to the men regarding custody/child support. if you want to be an active part of your child's life, the court should not have to tell you how to do it!

How about deadbeat moms? My son's mom pays when she has to! Its not always the dad! Moms can be deadbeats too! But the system does not help out the dads! My son has never done without and never will! Real dads step up sorry moms run away!!!

the divorce system isn't fair, but that doesn't have anything to do with men not paying child support. Most the men that don't pay are lazy sorry ass sons of b*tch's. I Have seen some cases where the child support is more than most make in a month. I hade an uncle that happened to. Cato told him to get another job. He never missed. It has to do with character and responsiblity. and for the ones that cant understand that. the man never cared about you or wanted the child he just wanted his, thats your fault for laying there.
