I would like to know how bainbridgega.com is able to videotape someone in the holding cell at the police station? Its seems to me that they are given access to a private part of the police station. I think it is wrong that they are able to videotape the inside of a jail, I know that it is not legal. I think this may be the result of unethical practices of the bainbridge police department.

tsk tsk those people at bainbridge ga just don't care about nothing else but getting a couple of hits of their little website. video taping regardless of the impact it could have on the person and his family, Did the people of bainbridge REALLY need to see someone make an ass out of himself and act like hes the devil or somethin...he probably has had a hard enough life without these people giving him this new kind of publicity. Shame on yall bainbridgega!

the guy in the video should either be extremely embarrassed, or needs serious help.
whats wrong with showing everybody the crazy asses out there law enforcement has to put up with? I say show it....put video cameras in all their cars, city and county,(many if not all sheriff cars have them I think)---maybe it will keep them honest, and help with disputes in court as to what really happened.
For that matter, put them in the classrooms, so when there's a dispute between what a student says and a teacher says, play the tape at the conference with parents!
I'm not saying I approve of taping when it invades privacy...put classrooms and persons drinking, fighting, breaking the law in public, is a different story.

I think that the individual in the video will suffer enough embarrassment just from the fact that he got arrested. There is no need for a video of him in this state to be posted for the whole world too see. A business should not be allowed to video a suspect while being held in a police department. That is using local government to make a profit!

isn't the post searchlight or any other media essentially doing the same thing?

Several months ago there was a video posted on bainbridgega.com of a a local law enforcement officer riding around with a female in the officers vehicle. In the back seat of that vehicle was a reporter for bainbridgega.com . That reporter, apparantly, was taping, video and audio, the female without her knowledge and consent. The reporter also joined in the banter between the officer and the female. It was clear that the banter/and taping of the female was done, and was being used, for sport. The officer, and the reporter, were asking questions, and making comments, for no purpose but ridicule. Even if the taping was being done by the officer, tell me what purpose the posting of the same served other than to hold a person up to public ridicule. Why was a reporter permitted to participate in such banter? Why was the tape shown before any court apperance?
Now to the most recent posting. First, did anyone notice the officers had holstered firearms on their person. How can it be justified to allow a reporter, even if the reporter is willing to take the risk, into the arena of struggle. What if the suspect was able to secure the firearm? Second, did anyone notice that the Video was edited after its initial posting? Initially one of the officers turned around smiling at the goings on. The posting was then edited to take the head shot away at the moment of the smile. Third, suppose the suspect is indeed mentally ill. Does it serve any purpose to display publicly his actions and utterings other than to hold him up to ridicule. Should officers be doing that? Are we going to allow anyone with a camera into those parts of our law enforcement offices where booking, detention, etc is taking place to film subsequent events such as this. Listen, the job of law enforcement officer is demanding, dangerous and often times unappreciated. I am not man enough to do their job. I am indeed thankful for all of the actions they take to protect us,,,,,,,but poor judgment is poor judgment. It was wrong to allow any reporter, or reporting agency, into these two described, and numerous other, law enforcement actions. Just my opinion!!

So I guess you believe the TV show "Cops", "America's Most Wanted", and others like it should be removed from TV? Have you written to those TV show executives to let them know your opinion?

Thats not the point. None of these shows have videos taken inside a holding cell or jail. The points is that Bainbridge Public Safety is allowing a business entity to come into the police station and video tape a suspect in the holding cell. It is a prime example of a government employee helping a friend make a dollar at the expense of others.

The allegation made by WTF about search warrants is new to me. I do know, however, that for very good reason the process to apply for, and the granting of, search warrants is by statute cloaked in secrecy. This protects law enforcement, informants and others. It also protects the benefits of surprise. It would be highly unusual for law enforcement to compromise operations by alerting media of the pending execution of a search warrant. I hope WTF has his/her facts wrong.

yes they do. I see it all the time where they are showing them in booking and in cells. One show is called "lock-up" on CNBC. Just the other day they went through the whole booking process at the LA County jail. Even showed the "crazies" and how they deal with them. Even have a warning when the show comes on about how graphic it is similarly to bainbridgega warning you it was not for the faint of heart. I respect your opinion, just don't agree with you.

ONLY SOMEONE WHO IS KIN TO THIS DRUNK EVIL ACTING MORON WOULD START A LIKE THIS.
I saw the video, and it shows what we as police officers have to put up with on a daily basis. and no i dont work at public safety. this BOY was drunk beating his head on the walls and maybe, just maybe the police wanted video evidence in case this drunk idiot started telling people that the police beat him. NO it is not illegal to video tape in the jail. Fact most jails have video ssystems installed and tapes are released all the time.
THIS IS STUPID should change thier nic to I AM STUPID because your liberal post was just that,,,STUPID
