It would be nice to know how many times over the last eight years Elian's Miami relatives corresponded with him. Chances are that once he left for Cuba and they were no longer able to parade Elian in front of the reporters like a prized trophy, the Miami relatives dropped Elian from their lives. They were a despicable bunch.

This is a story? Why? Did anyone think he would join the Boy Scouts of America? Of COURSE he would join the Young Communists. When in Rome... Bottom line W.G.A.S.

I am glad the little boy is doing something honorable, rather than being paraded in Little Havana as a political token by the Cuban exile community.

Even if he is "light in the loafers", joining the local dem. party is pretty funny. And sad. ;[;\

This is too good! LOL! I wonder if the Cuban Mafia in South Florida will continue to keep honoring this kid in Little Havana?

It does not surprise me this child is happy with his father. This just proves Miami cubans are thickheaded cowardly fools.
So I hear Cubans still on the island are being paid on merit now. Almost time to start sending the cowards we have been supporting here home.

Well, I'm glad we got the little shtt out of Florida when we did -- clearly, he'd be a Democrat voter right now if we hadn't!

why wrote: <quoted text> thank you WHO CARES. PUT IN THE PAPER HOW THEIR ARE NO JOBS IN FLORIDA FOR PEOPLE WHOM LIVE HERE Yeah, someone already nailed you for it, but I was going to say, perhaps the problem is you've been looking for work as a writer or editor, and the interviewers are just alerting to your obvious inability to write correctly.

His mother died so that he could be free, Janet Reno abducted him and sent him back to Papa Fidel, and now this. Shame on Reno.

AGREED. His Miami relatives attempted to squeeze Elian for every nickel and dime they could and once he was gone, so was their dreams (after selling their feces stained home to become the "Elian Gonzalez Museum") Good riddance to their 15 mins.

Yeah, his father sure has done a great job with him. His mother gave her life so that he could live in the U.S., away from the b.s. that is Cuba and Fidel Castro. And he pays that death back by swearing his allegiance to Fidel? Thanks, U.S., for allowing his mother's sacrifice to be for nothing.
His relatives were a despicable bunch because they wanted for him what his mother wanted, freedom? God, are all of you that backward?
