I hear the cops side of the story, I wish I can hear the other side...ooops...he's DEAD.

There's always 3 side to the story, in this case: the cops, the alleged thief, and then the truth.

Cops shooting to kill is an act of lawlessness. I'm not defending criminals, morons.

There is a new story cops saying that the 18 year old grabbed a sub machine gun from a SWAT so they shot him...THAT IS TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE AND SOMETHING IS REALLY FISHY ABOUT THAT.

I agree, sequence of events sounds strange and hard to believe.

Stealing a car, getting caught, and evading the police in a car chase is a protocol that can lead to the death of the thief, innocent victims, or the pursuing police officers.

Also, stealing a car is a major crime and a major psychological blow and inconvenience to the victim. I really dont mind if the thief of my car dies. I can live with that.

Since car thefts are such a psychological blow to the victim and can lead to death and destruction, what the govenment should do is mandate a law to require all car owners install expensive, sophisticated alarm systems and tracking devices at the owner's expense.

I do have a sophisticated Viper alarm system, with the radar field disturbance system and all that crap, it still wasn't a deterrant to the would be thief and in the end got stolen several times, which really amazed me. I also have Lojack; that was the only thing that works, as they found my car within 24 hours, but one time it had already been damaged, and another some of its parts were missing.

No matter what system you have, a determined thief, will get your car; if I could I would just keep a German shepard in all of my three vehicles, but then I wouldn't want my dogs have to stay in the car for the rest of their lives just for my own benefit.

Typical. I had met Dalton a few times he was a friend of my teenagers. Always very polite and helpful. When we found out he was in trouble it was to late he was gone. I never blamed anything on anyone. It just seems strange and cold to me how quick people are to say he deserved it, no one knows what happened except the officers that killed him. Maybe they had to maybe not. But he's dead and that breaks my heart. I'm sure you'd feel different if you had met Dalton.
So are my daughter's friends too, and my other son's "homies". Sure they are nice and they would help around when they came over, but I can only see one side of them...meeting the parents. All I can hope is that they all stay safe and not do anything stupid. Of course, it breaks my heart too. But if he fled, he should have no reason to; he should suck it up and become a man and accept his consequences instead of running like boy from an event.

I have to admit as a parent of one 19 year old and one 20 year old, that they would never do anything stupid and retard as this. My wife and I have always lectured them constantly about everything from drunk driving to common sense. I know I sound over protective, and a "broken record" to them, but I can only do so much. They are of legal adults as recognized by the local law enforancement. If they drove drunk and killed someone, I would be sad to, but I would accept the fact that THEY did it, and if they ran away, I would turn them in, because how would they learn? I can only protect them for so long.

When one reads the excuses other parents make for crimes committed...it is a little easier to comprehend why some of their young adults get themselves into trouble...they just do not want to accept the fact that there are always consequenses in life for crimes committed.they may get away with their wrong doings for awhile...but eventually they do get caught...and possibly lose their life in the process

No..law enforcement will eventually capture and send these criminals to prison where they belong..and their parents...friends and family members will continue to blog about how unfair the justice system is...it is an ongoing saga...

You don't get it, like sex offender registries, we don't care if any of that stuff works. We just want to make sure all the poor people get bankrupted by being made to install that stuff in their cars or face getting a traffic citation and their license plates seized by the police for not complying with the law that was INTENDED to make them FEEL protected.

A teenager driving drunk and killing someone is so much worse then what Dalton did. Yeah he shouldn't have run. He's a kid and acted beyond stupid, he still did not deserve to die like that. He never killed anyone, he was a thief not a murderer. What happened to compassion and a little empathy. This is tragic and anyone that can't see that or who actually cheers about it (not you but some have) that scares me more than anything. My sincerest condolences to Dalton's family and friends. He's in a better place. We do have a compassionate God.

Dude, have a half a heart, if a cop dies before they are convicted in crimimal court, it's a little rude and unfair to be calling them "criminals", don't you think?

If what you said was true, that "cops are never criminals", then the founding fathers were wasting a sh it load of time and effort writing the US Constitution.
