Agree but if azusa does not revitalize targets surrouding within 5yrs it will go. We need big name business such as a Wendys, Mc Donalds etc.. something that would continue to bring people to the area.
I'm sorry to be so blunt, but that's just stupid. You have the nerve to rag on Target (like you agreeing with the very-appropriately-named "AHOLE" that it's too "upscale" for Azusa), but you think opening MORE fast-food joints are going to attract people to come into Azusa?

That's the kind of moronic thinking that would ensure a city's economic failure.

I totally understand if it's a matter of feeling jaded that the city doesn't live up to its potential, and that good ideas don't come through quickly enough. I've felt that way a long time. But if you honestly believe that "McDonald's" and "Wendy's" are the "big names" that Azusa needs more of... if you're not just saying that to be cynical... then no one should give much credit to anything you say.

The suggestion that Azusa needs more fast-food places as "big names" to "attract people" is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever happened to read on this site. And believe me, that's saying a lot.

Wow, you are so coherent and logical in this post. You make good sense as well. How is it that we are agreeing? You can't be the same Long Beach poster I've been at odds with. Interesting. I certainly look forward to the January aftermath when we can all work together to improve our city.

We're agreeing probably because I'm not the same poster you're describing.(I'm not aware of that...) I rarely comment, and obviously I'm not the only one working or spending time in the LB area. Thanks for the good feedback, and have a good Holiday!

That's funny, because there used to be a grocery store at the exact same site where Target is now. Target sells groceries as well, so they have more to offer than a grocery store.
<quoted text>
So what! It's a large parking lot. And there are lots of other Targets in the SGV, with the two closest ones being in San Dimas and West Covina. If you think the Azusa store should be packed with customers at all times, you're delusional.
<quoted text>
You have absolutely no clue what their revenue is nor how much they pay in rent.
It is great to read thoughts from an insider. I am seriously tired of reading negative and unfound speculation from those who don’t live or shop in Azusa.

The firing range was on Vulcans private property. They did not renew their lease.
Monrovia Nursery was private property that was sold to developers.
If you had half a brain you would know all this.

Mountain Cove residents cried about the loud noise at the firing range so they had Azusa kick them out with a $$political$$ agreement with Vulcan.

I'll give it a week before this Target gets tagged with graffitti on the outside and becomes a third world store on the inside.
Well, it's been open for over a year, and you are wrong on both counts! Any more comments to pull out of your butt?

Well actually, sadly, it was tagged. Thankfully, those who did the tagging were arrested immediate (thanks to the security cameras). Further, you can’t tell where the tagging was anymore.

As to the other miss-prediction, I shop there almost every day and I can easily say that Target appeals to a wide variety of the people from the city, including tons of APU students.

IMO, Target has been a great addition to the city.

It may be for some degenerates, but not for others including people from other nearby cities who come in to shop, as well as those who work in Azusa, and out-of-towners.
<quoted text>
Yes, it will. You have no idea what you're talking about. Azusa is slowly but surely growing. In addition to other established businesses such as Costco and Rite Aid, there's a new housing development being built, and there's going to be a new Gold Line station in about 3 years. I'm not saying it's going to be like Beverly Hills, but even now Azusa sure ain't Skid Row. Our Target is in a nice part of Azusa.
Target and the gold line alone aren't going to change Azusa's reputation. Nearby Baldwin Park has Target, Walmart, Home Depot, a Marriott, and a Metrolink station and still has a bad reputation and below average home prices. It's as much the residents' job as it is the city council and developers' job to keep the city moving forward... and Rite Aid? Like fast food restaurants, drug stores do very little to attract a higher-end demographic.
