Now we know why this place looks like it does - no code enforcement again.

Why are they trying to put in a park when the city is $30,000 in debt? Police service has been cut so who is going to cover this area when issues arise, and you know they will. I heard from a neighbor that very few support this park and only the "committee" shows up for cleaning on volunteering days. That's probably because no one wants that park but a few people. We have a park outside city hall and it's torn to pieces and not always safe for little ones. If that happens to a park right in front of the police station, what in the world will happen to one behind a treeline where no one can see.

What was the reasoning for not letting the police have access to a verhicle that could allow them to get down this crazy park if they need to? Especially if they are using that dirt path down to the park. Did anyone think about the fat that the entrance path is along a gas well pad? One wrong firework or tossed cigarette and we're all going to die. Ths article even states that we can't get enough people together to fiht a single home fire. Who is in charge of this dumb idea?

There is no road to this park so how will people access it? We can't even get the potholes fixed. Have you seen Chaparral Lane lately? The mail delivery person has to park in a driveway and walk the mail to some of the boxes because the holes are 8-10" deep.

Didn't think there was a fire dept anymore after the chief resigned and GOOD for HIM!!!
So how is the city getting fire protection??? Has Briar FD moved in and took over the city's fire equipement?? Larry Reeds' dream come true!! Running the city again!!

Those of us on the FD are dedicated to protecting this City. The previous Chief was only there for the meetings so nothing has really changed except the Police taking over Code Enforcement. I'm sure Chief Towns has Code Enforcement well in hand.

HOW DARE YOU SAY that about Chief Stetzel?? YOU wouldn't have what you do if it wasn't for HIM!! You would still be using OLD, worn out bunker gear, using old equipment, NO brush truck, a safer (well as safe as can be) building!!
Don't know IF you were involved w/the dept about 5 years ago?? What a hell hole and disgusting people who "worked" there. Money, equipment, papers, everything was being stolen faster than it could get in the door!!
Stetzel DID a wonderful job as PBVFR chief. But just like anyone else who has tried to improve ANYTHING for the city, You can only be beat down so far before you say ENOUGH!!!!!
BUT don't worry your little heads off, Chief REED will SOON take over, THEN you'll see STRICT codes and most of you volunteers WILL BE GONE!!!

Bad changes. If you would like to now who really got the brush truck, do a open records act request to the Texas Forest Service, before you give too much credit to someone. Open record requests are easy to do.

Instead of beating the dead issue why are the residents allowing this to continue. For 5 years Ive heard about the Reed war against Pelican FD isnt it time to grow up and put the citizens safety first?? We need dedicated firefighters who LIVE in the bay to protect the bay. Why are so many members outside of the bay??? Houses are destroyed in seconds. Do these members have assigned shifts?? I pass the "fire station" at all times of the day and I thought Paul took it with him. Talk about a ghost town. WAKE UP ALREADY!! And code enforcement WHAT CODES ARE THEY ENFORCING??

I think some of the Reeds live in the Bay but I don't know if they are on the VFD. I wouldn't care really who fought my fire as long as they could save me when needed. Why do we keep losing so many service workers - fire, police, code enforcement, animal control? I keep hearing it's money but what happened to the gas well money? And what about the park going in down by the lake? How can that be funded and patrolled without full-time police or fire? Not trying to start a huge fight, just asking honest questions.

The well money dried up within months after the city got it.
Who knows about the park, they can't even maintain the kids park across from city hall??
Why employees leave?? The million dollar question! When you cannot afford the most basic of needs to run any department, it then puts an employees safety into question so why risk YOUR life for a town that doesn't give crap about you? Would YOU?

I agree this town is on its last legs. I'd be surprised if they don't lose every dime and run off in the night like rats. No one respects them, feels they take the citizen's needs into account, or think they even care about us. Look at the election turn-out. No one cares anymore. We're already a laughing stock in the area so what better to make people laugh than a bunch of clowns as the ones looking out for us. All of them are a joke.

Someone will post that if I could do a better job then run. Truth is, no one I know wants to even be associated with this joke of a town. So they make the mess, they take the heat because they earned it.

hey The Bay 76020 It is so true and so sad that what could be a Great Lake front Community cant even get together and agree on issues that effect our lives. And i agree I DONT CARE WHO FIGHTS THE FIRES AS LONG AS SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING DOES IT

God we need more like her to pull this city out of the hole its sinking into! That will NEVER happen and we'll be the fish flapping out of water when S**T hits the fan.

You don't have a clue about what that council woman did, SHE was the only ONE who kept the people informed!! She did a news letter for years and at HER expense, she openly expressed the laws of the state and city at ALL meetings, she fought to get the crooks out of the city's employment and sought to bring respectful people to work for the city, she placed her life on the line agaist crooked cops and fire fighters. She got a park built, did a xmas program for the city's needy families, and so much more!!
WHO else has done WHAT she did?? NOT a single person has put forth the effect to try and fix the city like she did or do ANYTHING for the people who live here....
IF the city had 5 members that put in 1/2 of what she did, the city would be on the up side instead of sliding down hill....

I have a clue about what she did and didn't do. Since you bring it up, what did the firefighters do, the only ones we ever heard about doing anything wrong were the one that went to Azle during the Quality Trailer fire. Do you remember they stole equipment, jackets, oxygen and other things from the Azle Fire Department. These were people that were hired by former chief Paul Stetzel. We never heard what the other crooked deeds were, that were supposedly done by former chief Mitchell. Don't you think if he and his former firefighters were crooked that the council person you are referring to would have pursued charge against them. None were ever pursued because they did nothing wrong other than get on her bad side.

Many of the posts coming from the United States are coming from this same ex-Council Person trying to stir things up and tooting her own horn. All of the problems with the previous fire chief were fabricated by her. She was a control freak and a busy body who warped things to suit her needs. Good riddance.

Ok truth hurts YOU don't have a clue who I am, yes i was a former council member but MANY years ago so don't confuse me with her, you people are JUST too funny or stupid one. Youre still trying to place the blame on her just shows you have NO clue, if you weren't so stupid you could be funny, NOT!!
Don't think she made up any lies about Ole chief Mitchell. There is proof of what was missing/stolen. And if you knew anything about how the voting goes, it takes at least 3 votes for an action to be passed and ALL 5 voted to remove those fire fighters. Check out former meeting notes. But that would mean YOU would have to eat crow doesn't it?
Get a grip and support the city!

bad changes, I suspect you might suffer from multiple personality disorder in addition to being a liar. Just remember, what goes around comes around and that your time is coming. You too will be judged.
