Two weeks after King William County voted against setting $20 million aside to buy land for the King William reservoir, Newport News officials said they still don't know what the decision means for one of the region's most controversial projects.
"We'll try to understand their thinking and try to figure out what we are going to do," said Eileen Leininger, the assistant director of Newport News Waterworks. "We'll try to understand what the decision means."
Shamans Tears explains to city of Newport News What this means!
IT MEANS YOU AREN'T GETTING THE KING WILLIAM LAND AND YOU AREN'T GOING TO BUILD A RESERVOIR THERE!
STOP MISTREATING THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS AND THE WATERMEN AND TAKE CARE OF THE LAND AND THE WATER THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE!

Newport News should flood out their own tax base and allwready have a pipeline going to diascund reservior off from the York river.Water is a commidity and should be sold like trash if it is being resold,King William residents should get free water and water hook ups for life as it is a resorce in their county. The residents have to pay taxes on personel property.Newport News should have to pay for water rights as the river was down over two foot this year and the effects on wells and fish eggs will not be known.

Once again people shout out opnions with out researching the facts.
The King William reservoir would be a huge plus for our great county. The addition of the King William reservoir would raise poperty value, Would help beautify a dismal and harmful SWAMP. not even close to a beautiful wetland like they claim. It has already ben proven with the right managment the shad popluation would not be affected. it would bring more fishing sport to our county more parks for our children. and would help King William keep paced with a ever growing economony. |

Swamps are harmful? Where did you get that "fact?" Sounds like something FOX news would say. How many times has the Corps mismanaged things when it comes to benefiting wildlife?
Water is a commodity. It will be more valuable in the future when there is less of it to go around. How is Newport News taking it from our watershed going to help King William then? Once its outside the watershed, it doesn't benefit the citizens or wildlife one iota. Some people should think about their own "facts" before they cast aspersions on others. |

It simply means that KW's supervisors are doing what's best for the residents of KW county. There are still hurdles and obstacles before this reservoir ever become a reality. KW shouldn't have to go into debt for something that may never get built.
