What in Gods name are these clowns trying to do? The location was turned down by the disabilities people as being unworkable for the train station, what the heck on earth are they planning on, a major pedestrian clusterf**k on main street every time the train comes in or goes out? People won't park a quarter mile from the stores to shop there either. Move the whole train station, parking garage out of downtown!

I never thought I would say this because I generally don't write things like this , but these people on the board of selectman in Ayer are truely STUPID . I live in a town close by and take the train to Boston daily and have been for a number of years and I have never bought one thing in the town of AYER . Nice town , but I only park there because it is free . When they charge I will never enter that town again . I would still go to Ayer if they built a regional station out of the middle of town , where it is in a regional area on the same side of the tracks and where you would not have to cross a main street to get to the platform .

The whole parking thing is so stupid. Also these selectmen are bound and determined to get this damn parking lot done.Town people don,t want it.Where is this money from the Central Ave. parking lots coming from? How can the town afford it.We owe so damn much money from other stupid projects that we will be broke. These so called selectmen are fiscally irresponsible that it makes me sick.Let Gilles quit if he can,t hack it.I would like to see Tom Gibbons run anyway. At least he has common sense.Who really wants to shop in Ayer anyway? The stores close up at6:00 p.m.except for the beer joints and cafes.Wake up selectmen.People are disgusted with your self serving antics.

For God,s sake build a regional train station on West Main St. and be done with all this silly bulls--t.It would certainly alleviate the parking problem and the traffic congestion in Ayer also.If you did have a regional station on West Main St.I bet you would see a CVS or Walgreens built near there. Also maybe those empty stores across the street would be rented out instead of looking like the blighted area it is now.Wake up selectmen and give it up......................move forward.

Ms.McCreary..........say goodbye as you will be voted out of office next election..........I guarantee it..........no more of your self serving ideas.

The Central Ave. parking is a non starter, at least, for some time. Town Meeting, Monday 25th. voted to table Articles 5 and 6 which would have authorized the BOS to purchase 2 of the 3 parcels located adjacent to the PO parking lot.
The Articles provided for "as funding...to raise and appropriate, or transfer from available funds, or borrow, or any combination thereof" some $151,000. It is possible that one of the State agencies would have paid to pave the area.
The BOS explained that they were "neutral" about the acquisition.

3 months after the previous post Rep. Hargraves's comments ref. the proposed garage make interesting reading. Public Spirit, Friday, January 28th. page 18, under the sub heading, TRACKING AYER'S NEEDS.
Just one quote - "Hargraves acknowledged and agreed with opposition to a downtown lot."
This article, and also last weeks headed "Reich running for BOS" do not seem to be on line. Perhaps the Editor could make them available ?.
