When I first read about it, I thought it to be
a crazy idea. However, I am not an Ayer Tax payer. I didn't think that the populus were really
serious about it.
Downtown Ayer is bad enough as it is with commuter traffic. I avoid that area in those time lines.

I hope this is the end of it. OR build another station miles "down/up the road".
The tax payers will have to want it though.

(Pardon the intrusion from a neighboring town.)

Mass DOT won't fund Ayer Rail Trail garage
By Mary E. Arata, [email protected]
Updated: 02/16/2011 06:41:14 AM EST - What a waste of time and MONEY our politicians have put us through. Now k at these statements - Selectman Chairman Jim Fay, who long supported the Rail Trail location for the garage, was shocked. If I keep the platform and I can't get a garage near the platform, then I've got to put the platform where I can put a garage," said Fay. Fay called for the reactivation of those who have been involved in the issue for the past decade.

Oh my, hey I have an idea, lets re-elect this guy because he is really good at this. That last one is the winner. Yeah, lets engage those who messed this up in the first place. Do we ever learn?

Read 3/4/11 article headline- DOT to Ayer: Prove benefit. I suggest a better headline would be 'Ayer BOS - Handicapped Not Welcome'. Read this article and discover the BOS now claim the issue comes down to not being able to afford to provide a handicapped compliant facility. And the State powers to be give this a wink and a nod?

MART is the entity that has repeatedly said it's not their reponsibility to provide the handicap platform but the MBTA's
This begs the question why the BoS has not raised this issue rather than follow along w/MART's plans.
The DOT and FTA have both refused to fund a parking facility if it and access to the train are not ADA compliant
Copies of DOT's letters saying so can be obtained from the BoS office
