Jan 13, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Ayer Public Spirit

The drama unfurled in the waning days of 2011 for one Ayer business owner who owes money to the town of Ayer and who sought the release of his 2012 liquor license in time for New Year's celebrations at his Main Street restaurant, bar and pool hall.

Why was Moore signing under duress? I don't get it, why do so many businesses actually owe back taxes? You are collecting rent, pay the taxes due. I pay my property tax and if I couldn't, I'd move.

Agree with you Ayer Resident. If this is a case where the landlord is getting shorted on the rent then just contact the town. They will work with anyone to set up a payment plan. That said, I dont see why this picture needed to be in the paper.

Having attended many of the BOS meetings as well as FinCom there is a real issue. The town is owed over $400,000 in back taxes, in addition to this there is outstanding about another $200,000 in unpaid water sewer bills. Presently the FY13 budget discussion is being done with $0.00 of free cash from FY12. The money owed and not paid could very well result in a layoff of town employees and cut in services.
The present goverment: In a very poor state, BOS have not more forward on any major issue in a long time, the town treasurer said she was unaware of property in tax title prior to her taking office, the tax collector is unconcerned about missing funds as long as people / business are trying! The BOS granted a tax increase after not being able to stand up to the business in town.
Our planning board: The adminstrator has a no contact harassment order against an elected offical after sumitting falsified documentation to a judge, the state ethics commission is investigating an elected official for improper actions, the chair is clueless for proper processes and procedures.

This town has always been a joke, and we keep electing morons. It will never improve
The current BOs is proof.
