In the Catholic Church there are many other beliefs surrounding Mary: the Immaculate Conception: the idea that she did not have sin s stated on here by Mike. Another Catholic tenet holds that Mary was a perpetual virgin, that Mary stayed a virgin even after Jesus was born. More alarming is that many Catholics say she was Co-Redeemer with Jesus Christ. Iím not sure if Mike believes this but I know factually that many Catholics hold to this belief.

Mary is not Co-Redeemer with our Lord,

We find in 1 Tim. 2:5,

>>> For there is one God and one Mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus <<<

There is only one mediator, and that person is Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 1:18-19,

>>> Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold...but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot <<<

Jesus is our Redeemer. Jesus is the one who came to earth and suffered on the cross. Then he died and was resurrected, so that we might be saved. Mary did not do any of these things. Mary is not our Redeemer, nor is she a Co-Redeemer. The Catholics are terribly wrong on this! There is not one passage in the bible that states that Mary is a Co-Redeemer. NOT ONE !!!

Amen, that is the scriptural truth....

Mary's paternal lineage goes back to Adam. Jesus' paternal lineage does not. His father was God.

Mary was born a flesh and blood sinner, just like every other human being. Did she find grace in the eyes of God? Yes. So did Paul, on the road to Damascus. A Jew who had just previously blasphemed the holy spirit at the death of Stephen.

God has used people throughout history to accomplish his ends. Even if those people were the likes Pharoah, Judas, and Pilate.

Bobby is a co-redeemer so i don't understand why Blessed Mary can't be. He speaks for God to help redeem Christ redeem people.

He is not a "co-redeemer" and neither is Mary, you, me, or anyone else.

You don't understand that Mary can't be because you refuse to read and believe what the Bible actually says about it.

Who taught you this garbage that she is?

1 Timothy 2:1-6. Prayers, intercessions made for all men. That is for all of us. What does that make us?

Jesus thru his Church which he gave all authority to before he ascended.

The Bible came 350 years later.

The Bible + Tradition + the Magisterium = The Church

Personal interpretation of the Bible , a Catholic book = Protestantism

This is a teaching that has gained attention in recent years with petitions from nearly 160 countries with more than 4,000,000 signatures supporting this nonsense. Some supporters of this teaching are the late Mother Teresa, nearly 500 bishops and over 40 cardinals. Mike obviously swallowed this false teaching whole. Whatever Rome says Mike will eat it like its his last meal.

This was taught in AD 32. This writing is from one who was taught by St John in the 1st Century.

St. Ignatius became the third bishop of Antioch, succeeding St. Evodius, who was the immediate successor of St. Peter. He heard St. John preach when he was a boy and knew St. Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna. Seven of his letters written to various Christian communities have been preserved. Eventually, he received the martyr's crown as he was thrown to wild beasts in the arena.

"Consider how contrary to the mind of God are the heterodox in regard to the grace of God which has come to us. They have no regard for charity, none for the widow, the orphan, the oppressed, none for the man in prison, the hungry or the thirsty. They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not admit that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, the flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in His graciousness, raised from the dead."

"Letter to the Smyrnaeans", paragraph 6. circa 80-110 A.D.

Slow down you are getting twisted up on your threads. This thread is about Mary not how you believe that actual bread turns to Jesus flesh.

Mike what does Gen 3:16 say about a judgment on the sinner women.

>>> To the woman he said, I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you <<<

As you know, Catholics say Mary is the woman of Revelation 12

Mike, Revelation 12 describe her with birth pains

Birth pains were a judgment upon sinners. So much for Mary not being a sinner.

Years ago I dated a Catholic girl. She said that Mary was introduced into the religion to counteract the growing impression that Paul was sexist, and in doing so made her more appealing to women who were not sure about joining up.

Basically, it was a marketing stunt.

Coming from a Catholic family and being a Catholic most of my life I have heard all sorts of things so this doesn't surprise me. The worship of Mary is not new but has gained some edge in recent years. I have lots to add to this discussion board that may be of benefit to some and may strike a nerve with others.
