I guess there are two questions here. First, to what extent does Tullio Arena need renovation. Second, Should Erie County or someone else pay for it?

Yeah, This is why they backed off of the Community College project for now. They are going to spend on this, then come back and spend on the College next year.

Convention Center Authority chairman Roger Richards has contributed to so many politiciansfrom Erie to Harrisburg to Washington that nobody can say no to him.(Lets not count Republican Gil Rocco, who spoke against this idea as a Erie County Executive candidate, but lost in the primary.)

Interesting to read Barry Grossman and Mike Kerner's opinions in the Erie newspaper today. They both had a chance to address the issue BEFORE County Council approved it at last week's meeting, but neither one attended. Now, after its too late, they have an opinion. Um, I thing leadership is saying something when it matters, not griping about things when its too late.

Don't blame me. I voted for Rocco.

Ya, That is the good part. I suppose spending other people's tax dollars is a clever way to entice us to spend our tax dollars. Its kind of like the person who buys something they don't need and boasts about the money they saved because it was on sale.

That is good news. Unfortunately, the BAD news is that the taxpayer is going to have to be on the hook for the other $10 Million - and the inevitable cost overruns that will most likely occur.

This is great news! being an otters fan i love the idea.btw, the seats and roof and expansion are just for starters.if they get this done,we may have a legitimate shot at getting the memorial cup here, and that is HUGE!. They estimate that an event like that could bring 200 million to the local economy if it happens!

Gee. I wonder where the state got the $32M? Suppose it might be tax money?

another screw-up by Erie Co. government, the facility should have never been moved in the first place from I-90!!
Maybe it's cost effective to move it back out to I-90, easy to get to, more people would attend, and secure!!
Turn Tullio dog house into new court house offices, sell the old court house to Gannon! Erie Co., already spent millions on office re-do and keeps leasing more at taxpayers expense!

The money tree that supports venues like the CC is dying and everyone associated with this project knows it. What guarantee do they have that the Otters or any other user of the CC will be there to support the millions they plan to spend?

No need to renovate for $42 million.

Roger Richards got his new Convention Center and has seen no conventions. Stop trying to help us Roger! We get it already, you're a bigshot. You make things happen.

Why don't you pay for it and we'll put your name on it - a measly $10 million and it becomes the Roger Richards Place that is Never Full nor Hosts Winning Teams or Good Concerts.

Sorry some of us are hockey fans, and it is a big deal,as a matter of fact the mem cup is a huge deal. The OHL is no joke,if they dont get this done, there are plenty of cities licking thier chops at a chance to but a team like the otters.
they can put a million dollar scoreboard at the retarded uht park, then by all means the otters better get a little respect to.you can hate the idea if you want to but,its gonna happen and every time you get your check, smile and watch your taxes help pay for it.

Really? thanks for showing us just what a class act you Otters fans are.

The Memorial Cup can suck my exhaust pipe. If the Otters are so hard-on about the Memorial Cup let THEM go to the bank and take out a loan - just like the rest of us have to do when we need a big ticket item.

The days of taxpayer funded arena renovations and new construction are over with - so deal with THAT Mr. Roger Richards!

Why don't you pay $200 to cover you and me and I'll stay home?

Or pay $100 a ticket since of course, the Otters rent will HAVE to go up, right? New facility means more rent. That's only fair. Same with Bayhawks. Concert tickets will nee to go up so we can ALL enjoy this great new facility.

How come everybody wants to and also feels like they have the right to spend my money?

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Capricorn

Take things slowly and all will be well. However, you must resist a tendency to be perfectionist over things that don't really matter, otherwise you'll never finish the chores. If you're busy with Christmas preparations, you'll have to control a nagging feeling that you've got to compete with the way other people have done things in the past.
