How frustrating. Just several doors down, multiple shots last night and 2 dead.
I moved out here with zero hesitation and all I want is to head back into Phoenix and away from all these ..... people.(racially fed up).

I also live very near where this occured. Im very sad, frustrated, depressed and angry to say the least. We moved out here with little hesitation also. I too have thought about moving now. But to where? These things happen all over the valley. I plan on calling police for any unusual activity from now on. If I so much see someone sneeze over there Im calling! I also plan on talking to neighbors as often as possible. I believe this is a good neighborhood and we just need to be really vigilant from now on. Also will contact the assocation and see what can be done. We are the good people-and we are the majority!!!

I hear ya...
I know this happens everywhere, but since I moved out here 16months or so ago we've had (of the ones I remember):
-2 of my cars broken into
-neighbor's door kicked in, robbed
-car through wall across street
-car through living room 6 doors down (almost killd child)
-neighbor husband of wife murdered and found near 99th
-a drunk indian who pissed himself walking around my house
-car driven through greenbelt next to my house
-constant atvs driven
-beer cans in the street every weekend
-loose dogs from the reservation
-gun hold up by drunk mexicans at 51st ave safeway, resulted in car crash where 1 died.
and now a 2 death shooting at a house I can almost see from mine.
I know I sound like a HUGE complainer... and maybe I am. I can tell you for sure that while this happens almost everywhere, there are MANY places in and around Phx that it happens much less.
Im definitely not raising my family around here.
I so fed up.

Racially fed up seems a bit extreme. I too moved to Laveen w/ the best intentions on raising my son. Laveen is a beautiful area and because it is, we attract low life intruders. Rather than stereo-typing our neighbors we should get to know neighbors and keep a look out for each other. I moved in thinking this would be my forever home and if that is the case I'd sleep easier at night knowing that the people around me will not ignore a cry for help.

Getting to know your neighbors and looking out for one another is totally right. Also a block watch and keeping in touch with the associations and making it againest the rules for any renter who has a party where two people get killed and one wounded a violation of the rules that results in automatic eviction! We owners work hard and pay good money for our homes and neighborhoods, we need to look out for our investment and try our best to get these slugs out!!!!!!!

I've never been one to be racist, and I can honestly say Im not. I realize that even if it is a majority race committing crime it is still a problem...narrowing it down to a race doesnt help the problem, I know. However, Im not one to ignore facts and adjust my awareness level based on those facts...and by doing that I would definitely not classify myself as racist, just aware and informed.

But onto the story... Last I heard they still dont have a single arrest or lead. Anyone hear any different? I only wish the housisng market was stronger and I could sell for near what I paid for. I do like Laveen, but this is rediculous. Seems as though "waiting it out" can be a deadly decision.
Call me extreme, call it over reacting. Im firm in what I believe and truthfully dont have answers for our neighborhood(s) but to leave those who are so immorally inclined and selfish to live amongst their own kind and keep reproducing and raising these kids the great way they do.

To add to optimistic's reply...
Laveen does not attract low life intruders due to how beautiful it is. Please. These idiots could care less how gorgeous the mountains are or how pretty the desert looks. They received great rates and finally dont live in apartments or shacks.
Same lifestyle as their slums and ghettos they came from, different neighbors.

I totally agree with alot of the stuff that has been said here, however, I'm not going to let one bad apple spoil my life here. The owner of the home in question resides in California, and didn't have a clue any of this was happening. The association contacted him on Monday. The bottom line is, it should be against the HOA's rules for an owner to rent their house out to a section 8 renter. The rest of us here bust our asses to make a $1200 (or more) mortgage payment, and our tax dollars are going to put a bunch of misfits in homes right next to us. You do not see this kind of behavior from hard working men and women like the rest of us. These are people that are not looking to get ahead, but rather to suck the life out of the rest of us. I have lived there for about 5 months, and never have had any problems, except with the people occupying that house. No theft of any kind, no destruction of any property, no noise etc. I am not going to let this incident discourage me, but rather fight to have new rules established to keep this happening in the future. We moved here from the far west valley, where our old neighborhood was in the news daily from drop houses, to meth labs, to bodies being dumped in common areas. We moved here to give our kids a good life, and that is still our intent. So all of you that are going to let this beat you, go ahead...sell your homes...but unless you are willing to stand tall and fight this, you will be moving to the same type of neighborhood, no matter where you move to. My boss lives in Scottsdale. There was 22 car thefts in their neighborhood over the weekend. This is Scottsdale...God's gift to the valley.

Additionally, I agree with Fellow Resident about a neighborhood watch. Don't give up on this place yet. I went from depressed and upset to Pissed off and outraged in about 12 hours. I think this is a great place to live..as long as we can get rid of the vermin that has infiltrated. I for one plan on attending the next Home Owners Association meeting. This is our neighborhood, and we must work together to get the rules changed about the rental properties within our community. Maybe even trying to enforce background checks for people renting here. There are a million different things we can try...Please don't give up yet.

What are your thoughts on organizing a community get together at one of our local parks? We could open it up to all concerned members of our community and set up a "community watch" type of deal? Would you be interested?

Yes that sounds like a good idea..we have been in touch with the Phoenix PD in regards to starting a block watch...the next block watch orientation meeting is at 730 am on Dec. 1st...around 43rd Ave and Thomas I believe...in the meen time however an informal meeting at a park sounds good...was in touch with the association today and told the rep he needs to organize a board meeting for us...since the association has yet to be turned over to us the board consists of the builders I believe..he is working on organizing this...WE WILL STAND TOGETHER AND BE HEARD!!!

With the holiday season just around the corner, maybe we could advertise this forum as a start. I feel that people may have a lot going on right now, but we could use this as a way to commuincate with each other. I personally would still be interested in getting together, how does December 15th sound for everyone? We could meet by the basketball courts next to the the Taylor Woodrow models, we could meet around 10am, share coffee and concerns? I would like to post flyers on the mailboxes with a meeting time as well as with this website. What are all of your thoughts?

Fellow Resident,
Yes, December 15th, 10am. After Thanksgiving, I will put up flyers around the Taylor Woodrow neighborhood as well as talk with my neighbors. I'm glad we are being pro-active; even if it's just the two of us, it's a start! Anyway, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Talk with you soon.

Fellow Res and MAC -
Can we keep the 15th of Dec? I can't change my plans right now, and I would really like to continue on as planned. MAC, I would like to keep meeting after the New Year, so we can plan the next one for when you can make it. Sound good?

MAC and Fellow Resident,
Can we postpone the meeting until the New Year? I didn't anticipate the holidays being as busy as they are, and I feel we may get a better turn-out when things are a bit more settled. Also, I would like to have the police join our meeting. What are your thoughts? I would still really like to do this, just not right now.

Thanks.
