I think the actual reason is that American workers will work for lower wages, more hours per week, fewer benefits, fewer vacation days than German workers and still produce quality with higher productivity. The overwhelming majority of BMW's market for luxury cars is in CHINA. Another notable area where BMW excells is being able to operate heavy industry without the environmental pollution that republikans are so sure is the key to prosperity. Duh! Chemicals, metals , plastics, etc are expensive, so recovery and recycling instead of dumping into rivers, ground and the air saves money, lots of money. Embracing a modern business model and becoming competetive gives them an advantage over the obviously failed model of slave wages, environmental destruction and sweat shop mentality of the 18 th century that republikans are so fond of.

BMW, a German automaker, produces luxury automobiles, trucks and motorcycles. I guess a global economy real does help fiscal growth here in America and abroad. More importantly, automobiles are exactly that...a luxury item that enables you to get from point a to point b faster... They, automobiles, are not a necessity or a means to an end.
Not everyone can afford the prices of American car company prices let alone German car company prices. Why is that? Could it be the board of directors and management made a business decision to off set organized labor costs by marketing their product, in north america, at exponentially high cost to the consumer, i.e. middle class Americans?

I see you're still as stupid as ever. These people are paid a decent, fair salaries, nice benefit package, have a good employer and most have families. You would think people would want extra money to catch up bills, maybe buy some things for themselves they've done without due to the pissy economy we've enjoyed the last four years and you're on here bitching about overtime. I don't think working 8 hours on a Saturday and maybe 2 hours extra a couple nights a week is going to kill anyone. Mike, you're so out of touch with the workforce it's unreal. People bitch if they don't make enough money and they bitch if you offer them a chance to make extra. WTH is wrong with you, other than the fact by your post you're a lazy butt. Let me guess, we should give them some government entitlements due to the fact they want something for nothing instead of working for it. Have you ever worked a real job, like for a real company?
I am fully aware people will bitch no matter how well they have it. Just as owners bitch about their workers, no matter how hard they work for them. They always seem to want more, as in the case you speak of. I know this due to working to full capacity and yet still hear the boss cracking the whip to do more. I deal with it because I know people will bitch no matter what. Some can never be satisfied.
People bitch, and that is reality. So deal with it.

This is so true. And the repressive and intrusive laws being enacted by the legislative money whores in congress favor the companies and interest who write the PAC checks/bribes . All the commies, socialist, AND anarchist added together cannot even approach the damage done by the corruption of lawmakers by lobbist.

Chuck Hagel is an American hero for speaking out against starting a war based on the lies of his teammates. Now, reublikans are attacking honest republicans for being honest. This comes just days after supporting violence against women. Republikans are truely the stupid paty.

More democrap misinformation. His confirmation was filibustered because, when he was a republican, he spoke out against his teammates. So you get what you have now....

So Mr. Empathetic, have you ever worked with single mothers or people trying to take care of other family members? I've worked with plenty of single mothers and fathers that jumped on overtime. They didn't have to, but you know what, they were selfless. They put their needs and even some little wants for their children, other family members or sick family members sick living with them and themselves in front of working maybe 10-15 extra hours a week because they had pride. Can you wrap your head that some people want to make it on their own and don't want you, me or the government to foot the bill for them? I admired these women and men because they were selfless, had pride and weren't afraid of a little hard work as you seem to be. You could learn a lesson from working a real job.
What I see in your rant is a person who thinks Americans must work more than forty hours a week to make a living.
I think many do work more, yet still do not make enough to live on.
I guess you would rather have the single mother leave her kids for most of the time so a few can live the good life.
Of course so often the end result is a child who is not raised properly, thus he/she grows up with problems society winds up dealing with and costing us even more. It is a vicious cycle and you are not helping to slow that cycle down.
If we went by your mentality, I think the cycle would speed up.

Look at third world countries and they often are going by your mentality. The parents sometimes never see their kids.

I note every post from your side shows no empathy for these people. I am just calling it out as I see it. If you have some empathy for them, I fail to see it in your words.

As usual there are two sides to every story. This is the side told to you second hand by your sweet little future son-in-law. Little white collar, brown nosing Joe who has probably never had his hands dirty a day in his life. In reality he is the one complaining because he has had to come out of his comfort zone and do some honest work for a change. Key words here "all the over time they wanted" which means not required. When not enough signed up for over time to cover the work little saleried Joe had to put down the coffee cup or risk a pink slip for himself. Other key words, "he HAD to come in". He was not given a choice right?
Of course the republican is taking the side of the boss only.
This shows the trend of how they do not really care what the worker is dealing with.
If business is so great that more work is needed to produce the product, then the business should hire more people if no one wants the overtime.
Note they do not hire more, they just make the salaried employee work more.
This is evidence that even if a business is doing well, they often refuse to hire more. They just work the employees more and pocket the money for themselves.

don't try to live in a house like the biltmore estates, working as a cashier or ditch digger.

Living within your means has nothing to do with sympathy or empathy. If you fail to meet your obligations first then you deserve to have bad shit happen to you. And that includes placing necessities, over wants or desires, first. No one made those single moms and dads have kids. Time for them to pony up and tough it out.

Not sure how this has a single thing to do with what we are talking about.
I am pretty sure no one making minimum wage is living in a Biltmore sized home.
The conversation is, if you are making minimum wage and working forty hours a week, can you live on it? Are you saying one can but is just blowing his cash?
I know it is very hard for you to articulate.
