wanted to pass on that a few, very large coyotes have been roaming our neighborhood the last few months. we live near the corner of walker and moore. one followed my dog to within 30 feet of our house today, at 9am - which is not a good sign as they are typically skittish of bigger dogs and keep hidden during the day. mind your smaller pets, garbage cans, and kids!

Around 11:00 p.m. February 20, 2009, I let my golden retriever, Casey, out in the backyard before going to bed. I was in kitchen, and all of a sudden my dog started barking like I have never heard before. Quite panicked, I looked out our patio sliding doors, and saw three huge coyotes standing on our mound. These very large coyotoes were within 5 yards of Casey/our house. When the coyotes saw me, they didn't run/nor move...they were still focused on our dog. Not knowing what to, I just started banging on our glass doors. Finally, they left. The coyotoes ran toward the train tracks.....

This is an easy fix folks.

Using fishing line and hooks, hang the string from a tree with livers on them. the coyotes will jump to get them and thats all she wrote.

my preference is to use a .30-06 though

I'm pretty sure I saw one on Moore a little north of the tracks. It popped out of the woods and stood there as traffic drove by. I didn't see any others with it. The first thing I did at work today was try to find pictures, but nothing online seemed to look like this, it was spotted. It was definately to big to be a fox but I didn't think it was huge like the posts above.

Just saw medium-sized coyote on Walker between Lear and first Kopf street to the east. It calmly watched lunchtime traffic with no fear then turned back in to the woody area on the north. I really don't like that they are not afraid of people. I live a half mile away and now know not to let my little dogs out back unsupervised.

Avon Lake has grown so much, there is no longer habitat for these animals. The deer running around Avon Lake are amazing. I grew up there, never once saw a deer or coyote. Now, when I go home to visit, I see deer crossing Walker Rd like they own it. Nowhere for them to go now I guess.

I saw one today. I've seen coyotes before so I know what one looks like.
He was in a clearing very close to the Rapid tracks near the West 25th station. Even though I was on the train, it was moving very slowly from a stop. I had a very good look at it, so I am sure of what I saw.

I saw one one on of the walking trails off of electric behind the library. I was with my 7 year olds thinking it was cool to see one- but then quickly thinking to myself- " hope it keeps walking away...."

I live in Westlake on Hilliard Blvd. East of Clague. Close to Rocky River Border. I have a Jack Russell who has been attacked twice in my backyard by coyotes. I was lucky enough to see one when I first moved in so Never am very far away from my dog when I let him out.

The first occassion, I had let him out about 11pm. Had flood lights on across entire back of house. My dog took off toward back of my lot. I thought initially he was chasing a deer until I heard him yelp. I also keep a high pitched whistle and a high powered flashlight at the back door and it was a good thing. I quickly turned on the flashlight and saw 2 coyotes chasing my dog. I yelled for him to come and the flashlight stopped them as well as my voice.

The second incident was just this past week in August 2013. I was sitting on my patio with all my lights on again doing some evening reading. My fire pit was going, music on. I was armed with my aresenal mentioned above. And continually scanned the back of my lot which backs up to woods with the flashlight. I saw nothing. I turned my back for one minute to gather up my reading materials phone and water bottle. My dog left the patio. In just that second a coyote came out from the woods behind and got a light nip on my jack's back. He's okay, but I have to say, 2 times in 3 months is a little much. Remain very diligent. They are here, all around us. Now I won't let my dog out in the back unless I'm armed with bear spray and he's on a leash. They are getting bold. Again, remain diligent.

Our small dog was grabbed by 2 coyotes last night at about 11:00 pm. My 23 yr old son saw them come up in the yard and we all rushed outside when he yelled. They took our dog out into the field but let him go and raced off. We rushed our poor dog to the emergency vet but he didn't make it.
