I have been through and to Hudson many of times. I grew up in the Falls. I am not from Nashville my ISP is routed through there. I never mentioned anything about 2 people who died in the Hudson floods nor did I admit to laughing about 2 people dying. Funny how in your reply you constantly keep mentioning the 2 people who passed in the floods when I never even mentioned anything of the sort. I said that I laughed when hearing about the flooding in people's homes, not people dying. Please don't put words into my mouth. I never said Hudson wasn't nice, I said the people are a-holes. And I'm willing to change that statement to MOST people in Hudson are a-holes with the exception of a few kind hearted souls (and your not one of them). And to tell you another thing, I lead and have a great, great life. You can save your prayer for somebody else, I don't buy into that garbage either. Shame on you for being so ignorant for buying a home next to the railroad then complaining about the noise and for putting words into others people's mouths.
I did not put words in your mouth.. You did.. You said it was funny about the floods in Hudson.. You said you laughed about it.. I was just letting you know that it was not funny at all. That people lost there lives in that flood.. If you would have known that would you have still said that comment.. That is what I was upset about.. Don't put words in my mouth either.. Yes I bought a home near train tracks.. SO WHAT..... We are not complaining about the train... We just want possibly at night a quiet zone with the train horn.. We want to put up barriers so people would not try to cross the tracks.. You don't live here so why do you care???? Anyway I am really sorry that your life is so boring that you have to make silly comments about something that does not even concern you.. What a sad sad little person...

Yes I laughed about the floods not people dying, you dumb azz. And it wasn't a comment when it happened, I actually laughed along with many other people. And yes I would have still made the comment (yesterday) because my comment was once again about the flooding not people dying. This is like talking to a 3 year old. You are complaining about the train, if the horn is attached to the train you are indeed complaining about the train. In case your not aware trains didn't just start using and blowing their horns last month or even two years ago, trains having been blowing their horns since trains have been on tracks. So if you thought that living by the tracks you weren't going to hear the horn and they were just going to stop using one for you, your an idiot. Your an idiot anyway. It's to be expected when living by the tracks. I thought all this was for a quiet zone now you want barriers to keep people out, how about some rubber for the wheels? Maybe the engine has a whisper mode for you too. All my life I have heard nothing positive about Hudson just a bunch of whiners who want everything catered to their likings. Once again my life is not boring, it's great and full of excitement. I actually feel sorry for your husband, I don't know how he could stand to live with someone so dumb. Ignoramus

As for the barriers you dumb ****... THat is for the crossing so people can't cross the tracks not to block the noise from the train.. Oh and about my husband he is very happy.. So tell me do you have a husband??? Oh wait are you a guy??? Oh well maybe that does not matter.. You keep down Hudson... I feel maybe its because you just want what we have.. I am stooping to your level because this is getting fun.. Lets see what stupid things you have to say about this.. Your friend in your favorite place HUDSON.... The best place in the world..

It seems that this is a community war! The point of this whole thing is that a Quiet Zone that does allow for locomotives to sound their horns is not safe. Forget that some people may be from one area or another. When someone gets killed at a railroad crossing because of a Quiet Zone, a lot of pay a huge price.
As a former railroader, I can tell you this is a bad idea. I realize people have the right to seek out Quiet Zones, but these are also the same people that will sue railroads when they or someone they know are hurt or killed.
Think of this way. When you are in a locomotive, your defense against drivers is the horn and bell. Brakes on fast moving trains are not like cars. There is no such thing as a 'safer' crossing. If you are going across railroad tracks, you are at an unsafe crossing. Here is what your communities should be fighting for....a bridge that goes over or under the tracks. Think about it. No horns then and the railroaders are safer too.
If you are attacking people because they are from Hudson or wherever...you have lost the point of this whole article. Anyone else agree or is posting in here pointless?
I agree

To all you morons who are more prejudice and judemental than any I have ever read. You are making judments on everyone in a community. How unfair and bias. I dont have a maid, I dont drive a sportscar, I clip coupons, buy on sale only, and worry about how I am going to take care of my two kids as they grow up. I hope my children never have to meet up with the likes of the morons in this forum. I think the train situation has totally been lost in the discussion, and people that dont know the facts should keep their thoughts to themselves.
Maybe you can use some of the money you save clipping coupons to by a grammar book. Nothing to do with trains and horns and savings lives.

I want nothing that you have. I grew up in the city and don't miss not living there. No privacy, no yard and high taxes. I prefer the rural life where I can do whatever I please. As long as your happy in Hudson that is all that matters. I do however apologize for being so p.i.s.s.y. I just quit smoking a couple of days ago and have been extremely irritable, as you can tell. See you at starbuck's.

That was my point...all this garbage about Hudson has nothing to do with the train and the fact that a quiet zone would make the crossing safer. Read the facts that others in the forum have referred to. Oh, and thanks for making fun of my situation. It was very nice of you. You may edit what needed correcting if you would like. Be my guest!

A quiet zone would not make the crossing safer it would actually increase the danger of the crossing. Trains have horns for a reason and they blow them at every intersection for a reason. All the quiet zone is intended for are the people who live next to the tracks can sleep better, but in my opinion were dumb enough to buy a home next to the tracks knowing that trains travel through there all day and night and when they do, blow their horns as a safety measure.

The point being missed is that train traffic is up significantly "more than triple" thus an increase in the amount of noise.

Do any of you read and more importantly, comprehend what you read, before you spout off with your b s ???

There is no sensible reason that horns have to used as much as they are today. People who disregard the signals and crossing gates DESERVE to be hit and killed. Horns don't protect the ignorant from themselves.

Sorry, Alan - but that statement is simply unbridled ignorance. NO ONE deserves to be hit and that kind of talk could move me from supporting a quiet zone to the other side quicker than you can blink.

I don't live in Hudson, never did; and I likely wouldn't support this if I did live near a crossing. Besides, I like the sound of trains.
My primary issue, however, is the outspoken opinions that seem to be posted for little more reason than this is Hudson. It's one thing to think the idea is dangerous, but few posts about state that opinion without also taking a low shot at the community.
I guess I can't help but wonder if you folks really hate people with money that much.
I'm not sure if it's Hudson, or just the stupidity of someone who buys a house next to the train tracks then complains the trains are too loud. Maybe in Kenmore, or lakewood you would expect it but Hudson, I always thought people who lived in Hudson were MORE intelligent than the rest of us, Guess not. I'm not saying i'm the brightest, but I don't live next to a train track.

Sorry for you, if you fail to pay attention to your driving, which is RAMPANT these days, fail to obey the signals and crossing arms, you deserve what you get.

How so? I wasn't trying to "recover" from anything. I didn't mean to imply it had anything to do with you, I was replying in kind to your "Sorry Alan"...

If you fail to pay attention to your driving, fail to obey crossing signals/guards and get hit by a train, it is your fault and you deserve the consequences - IE hopefully die so your stupidity is out of the gene pool.

I believe natural selection should be allowed to run it's course. We humans interfere with "Gods Plan" far too much! LOL!!!

Just to clarify a little further, the rampant inattention to driving I speak of is the fools on the phone talking, texting, drinking their Starbucks or putting on their makeup while attempting to drive.

Especially love the winter time when some fool is in a four wheel suv/truck holding up traffic while they are creeping down the road because the conditions are SO dangerous but they are driving with one hand on the wheel and another holding the cell phone. These people I DO want DEAD, train or no train. LOL!!!
