Why is it that this adminst. wants to take us the way of europe. They can't get it through their heads that this is the USA. Independent, freedom loving, people who have no desire to travel on a train "anywhere"!
They are forcing us to move back in time right into a depression

It's a great thing when every independent, freedom loving family can afford to have two (one for each adult in the family) private transportation systems parked in the garage, but that is becoming increasingly out of reach for the average working class family.
IMHO, in a few decades, a private transportation system (automobile) will be an option only for the super rich. Just like in Europe, Japan, China etc. Maybe you will be one of the lucky few. If so, good for you Mr. Independent Freedom Lover.

China spent billions on high speed mass transit rail system, And nobody is using them. So all the money they spent went too waste, People in china now drive cars , They like being able to jump into their own car and just take off instead of waiting for a train departure time.Look at amtrak its been a total failure as in for making any profits.

Who says "nobody is using them"?
If they are not I am sure their government would suppress any news like that.
Use your head. What is going to happen when all 1.3 billion Chinese get cars? It is going to choke every ox cart path in that country.
What are they going to use for fuel? They use cow dung for cooking fuel now.

Indiana isn't dense enough popularity wise to make it viable or even a carbonless alternative to payback or offset the carbon footprint let alone make a profit. Just what indy needs another money pit.
But indianapolis is dense enough to beleive the line of crap from the treehuggers who now want cheap transportation on someone elses back and dime as usual, being its the liberal mantra and way of life.
Better yet they need to install toll booths on the monon trail and make the I want it for free people pay their way for that tax subsidy too!

Were you this bitter when the Eisenhower freeway system went through too? Another public funded program that changed how we live and work for the better. All your neighbors use Indy streets to commute into the city to work... They do not pay taxes for Marion County street improvements and maintenance but they use them. Talk about a cheap method of transport on the back of others. Hey I'll take your toll idea for the moron and implement it at thoroughfares connecting Marion to Hamilton. You mad?

Nope, because its something I use that I pay for, continue to pay for via taxes, wheel tax, excise tax and gas tax.
Sorry, butI don't use indy streets to get to work. Doesn't matter even if I did, I pay taxes that pay for it.
The transit money pit would be another social program to pay for something I don't want nor will use. The treehuggers want it, then they should finance and pay for it being they will be the ones using it.
Non of the current mass transits can sustain or operate in the black without major subsidies just like the bus system, if the bus system was private it probably could make money,....anytime you get gubment involved you end up having more high priced chiefs then indians that administratively suck the funds dry with opulent salaries....just like every branch of gubment does......the reason why liberals love big gubment and the gubment teat.
Its their bread and butter and their mantra, everyone else should support them, their projects and their lifestyles..........its what their pot smoking hippy parents taught them.....live irresponsibly, make others pay your way, and blame everyone else for your short comings and bad decisions.
But yet no one can figure out why our kids are failing........I know lets come up with another failed money pit social experiment.......mass transit.
As far as toll booths for the moron trail, tax the hell out of it, and make the users pay their fair share or open it up to auto traffic, or make bicyclist buy plates registration and insurance.
Tired of these treehugging morons condemning my mode of travel and then using roads they dont pay taxes on....fair is fair.....pay up or use the monon for a fastrack auto bypass to downtown.

Screw the mass transit....just more treehugging socialist with the, you should pay my way mantra...and now you should subsidize my transportation too idiots who don't want to buy a car, pay excise tax, wheel taxes, insurance, plates or gas tax wanting other people to once again subsidize them.

Screw them, we don't need another taxpayer subsidized money pit for their gain. These liberal losers need to get a job...or at least hold one down and pay their own way. Bad enough the world has subsidized these no talent artists that still think the world owes them and needs to keep funding their loser lifestyles.

Just because mom and dad coddled and were their enablers doesn;t mean taxpayers should..........get a job or hit your pot smoking hippy protesting parents up for your transportation needs.

I know lets spend our way into prosperity!

Holy crap Plato, you figure that out all by your lonesome or was this a discussion at your round table pot smoking circle jerk?
The carbon footprint alone would take eons to pay back being so few would ride it and Indy not being dense enough.....well except to believe something this dense from some free riding stonies.
2ndly, I probably plant more trees in my lifetime then you've destroyed wiping your ass with tp, so put your bong down and try performing something called math. Like the cost for smelting steeel, aluminum, Iron, gold and silver, copper, railroad ties, shipping and delivery of the raw materials to the plant that spews millions of metric tons smelting the metals, hacking down trees for the railroad ties, the coal burnt to supply the electricity or the diesel fuel. The synthetic plastics, resins and polycarbonates used on the cars, seats, cushions, windows. the clear cutting of trees for the tracks
You treehuggers are bullshitters, you could care less about the environment, you just want another taxpayer subsidized free ride.......again, then its ok to deciamte when you benefit!
Now go hit mom back up for bus fare.......7th place loser.

PSSST. Highways are the taxpayer subsidized free ride. BILLIONS annually. Mass transit is cheap by comparison, except for the start-up costs.

Psssstt, and we as taxpayers benefit from what we contribute via wheel, excise, gas tax and local taxes in the hundreds of billions that BIG gubment has allocated for other bureaucratic bullcrap, the main reason the infrastructure is need of repair because of the funneling of my alleged FREE RIDE dollars on something that benefits you.

So next time I buy license plates or fill up maybe you should show up and let the station owners know that they shouldn't be charging me for my ALLEGED free ride Einstein.

I have friends living in China at the moment who complain that the mass transit system is crowded.

If we had more 4 wheelers, we wouldn't need to take the roads, we could just cut through peoples land to get to where we need to go, kind of like what the envirowhackos want to do with their little toy train pet project.
For 2 billion, after cost overruns and contractor bribes it'll be 5 to 6 billion before its over and everyone gets their cut.
For 5 million you could buy 50 buses and for 5 million more have them run everyday for 100 years before the 1 billion mass transit would even begin to pay for itself.
There I just saved them 1 billion, no destruction of land, clear cutting for tracks, movement of lots of people on 1 bus and solved the alleged mass transit problem envirowhackos seem to think we need for their free rides.
Now where do I pick up my check for saving a billion dollars?

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Pisces

It's a great day for fixing anything that needs attention now. That might be a dripping tap, a sick child, an unpaid bill or a miffed partner. However, you'll do particularly well if you need to sort out something connected with official or joint finances or red tape. You might be asked to help someone deal with a bureaucratic problem, especially if they're elderly.
