Good luck Melissa. Sounds like a real positive woman to take a bad situation and make it into a good one. All the best!

Why is Granby not listed? After all, Granby is at the "head" of the valley.

Good luck. Send along your contact information and I will pass it along to all the PRSA-CVC members so you can get releases and story ideas. Great choice going with Barbara Thomas. We've worked with her in the past and she's top notch.

Great news. People really read these valley papers, so I was surprised that the other one closed. Free is definitely better. Get the advertisers to pay and keep the circulation higher. Good Luck!

Bloomfield is, as usual, left out too.

Good for Melissa. I'm betting that she'll be successful, because with the Courant backing away from town news, there's a need to be filled.

But did anyone notice she's doing it without state aid or government involvement...as should be?

I'm still waiting to find out if and what kind of assistance those other newspapers received. When the public objected, the Courant and the State suddenly put a lock on the information.

All of the complainers clearly have no concept of the incredibly cost and amount of work it's going to take this woman. Get your heads out of your butts and appreciate that she's doing what nobody else is willing to do.

That giant sucking sound you hear is the Hartford Courant melting away to nothing, leaving a big vacuum of local news. The economy notwithstanding, this may be as much savvy business decision as gutsy move. Businesses have to communicate and the Courant ad revenue is dropping as fast as its pages (and reporters) are. They deserve credit for a smart move.

Bloomfield has a new paper - the Journal - which is very good so we are all set.
