I'm curious: assuming Karen is convicted, will her stupidity result in her losing her nursing license? I'd hate to think anyone w/ that poor of judgement would be able to "nurse" others...I'd be afraid she'd use her spectacular judgement on those who need medical assistance & instead of helping them, she would cause them harm.

I hope they throw the book at this stupid alcoholic and make an example out of her. She should have known better.

But she was just helping her daughter 'feel good' about herself! This is what happens when the word 'NO' gets used so little. Out of control children! Because no one wants to make their children 'feel bad' about themselves anymore. She should lose her license, her daughter should be made to go around to Jr. & Sr. High schools and give speeches and then do community service @ a halfway house for a year and talk to reformed alcohics and see what she and her mother promoted!

This happens more than people think. I have heard of at LEAST three parties happening this coming weekend where the parents are supplying alcohol to their underage kids. Graduation parties from HIGH SCHOOL. It makes me SO mad. I will NOT be doing that for my son. EVER.

If you were really outraged you would tell the police. I'm sure you won't because you are either lying about there being parties like this, or you just pretend to care on message boards but really don't care enough to do anything to stop it.

I thought the "legal" drinking age was 21???? so whats the big deal about her daughter being "almost" 17?? this is why all parents need to pay closer attention to their kids..I know what I did at that age and well it wasn't anything to brag about,,I also turned into an alcholic that caused me several problems over the years..haven't had a drink now in 19yrs. don't miss a thing..throw the book at both of them and maybe they will learn something before it's to late

I actually DID tell police, just so you know. I called them as soon as I heard about a specific party happening next Saturday night in Geneseo that will have alcohol provided by parents. You don't know me, so don't pretend you do.

I TOO, went to some graduation parties where my friends parents were supplying the alcohol when I was about 18. Their logic was that they'd rather have us drinking there, instead of driving around (I have to admit, we COULD get our own alcohol if we wanted to). Also, my friends parents' logic was that they could monitor us, cut us off if we had too much, or make sure no one left with their car keys in hand....they didn't drink with us, either. I think this made sense (which is surely debatable).....but this woman didn't even stick around to make sure these kids didn't get out of control. She had no way of knowing if one of them was going to drive their car....she left them a large amount of alcohol and drove off. That's REALLY irresponsible.

Yeah, there is a difference between parents that are responsible and parents that just buy the alcohol and then leave. But, both kinds are breaking the law and it could lead to something bad -- even if they don't mean it to. It just makes for a bad situation.

I never said I knew you. And what about the other two parties you claim to have knowledge of?

Accidents that will happen are the reasons that there should be NO ALCOHOL @ any graduation party. No parents would be serving (with knowledge) anyone supplying would be responsible, and if the HS graduation party is alcohol free then people are responsible for themselves. You treat them as adults, then you also need to act as an adult. Don't want alcohol related accidents for your chidren @ graduation time, THEN DON'T SERVE ANY ALCOHOL even to the adults attending. Practice what you preach! Stay safe all you 'mature' HS graduates this year. Tired of hearing about accidents.

My parents didn't allow me to drink at my grad party. I thought it sucked at the time but now I see my parents were being PARENTS. Your kids don't always have to like your decisions, I hear it's ok to say NO to your kids. Part of the reason I chose not to have kids is because of parents like the ones in this story. I would raise my kids like my parents did but so many parents just don't care what their kids do, or are friends with their kids instead of PARENTS. You can teach them good values but often their friends are a stronger influence.

I wish you had a 15-year-old daughter and she went to one of these parties and died from alcohol poisoning.:)

I was being sarcastic! That's why I put the smiley face in. He wished MY death... and I was just showing him how silly he sounded when he said that to me. I would NEVER wish death upon anyone!!

Bob: You eat w/that brain/mouth! And...your parents allow these things to be said to others! If said here, most likely this is an attitude @ home too! And mom and dad will surely have a party w/alcohol (probably meant just for the adults--which they think their kid is one of). I'm sure you don't know what the word 'NO' means in your life anyway. You sound like a HS kid that has no boundaries either.
