Damiansville was named for St. Damian who is the patron saint of apothecaries. He and his brother Costos were martyred in Syria. They were referred to as the Moneyless as they gave their medical services to the poor for free in order to convert. St. Damians catholic church in Damiansville can give you more info since it was a german catholic population which founded the town.
