Should I buy a condo in Perth Amboy?

Hi Guys,

I am wondering about the real estate market in Perth Amboy. My husband and I really like a condo on Lawrence Street, but we don't like how it's so close to the highway. Is this a safe neighborhood? Since we are both from out of state and we aren't terribly familiar with the city, do you think buying here would be a wise choice? We are most concerned about resale value after 3 to 5 years.

Buy in South Amboy.

Close to all major highways, better train connections and (hopefully) soon a ferry running.

Taxes went up 75% so my mortgage went up $250 a month. It was actually shocking. I couldn't vote for him since I believed what they were saying during council meetings. What they should have said is..."Go get a second or third job. We're going to reassess at the height of the real estate market and after that we're going to raise your taxes sky high". At least I would have been prepared.

So you think that only people you bought a house (aka automatic reassessment) should pay for the higher value? What is wrong with reassessing the value. If you don't agree with the value fight it.

So you were not prepared? But you knew that you house if worth much more than before .... hopefully. Then a reassessment was inevitable.

You should have seized the day and refinanced to very favorable conditions and saved some money.
