How ignorant can Rohrabacher be? I feel offended that he would go to such lengths to stop something that allows people to simply be identified. Conservatives argue that illegal immigration is a problem because people come to commit crimes and we have no way to know who they are.....yet they stop the only identification process that would help identify those who actually do commit crimes. The MAJORITY come here to work and provide a better life for their family! Ask Rohrabacher if his family was dying of hunger and had no money to feed them if he would steal a piece of bread for them. OF COURSE! Although immigrants are not stealing, they are working to do the same... feed their families.
Rohrabacher represents wealthy (mostly non-minority) individuals in PV and OC, however, he should realize that many Latinos from ALL over Southern California visit Catalina Island and contribute to the economy, his ignorant and aggressive actions might just fuel people not to go especially with summer around the corner. He should be a smarter man and stop jumping on the "anti-illegal immigration" band wagon because Latinos in CA don't want to hear it....especially when it is so close to home--here in SoCal! Especially when we have the power to affect the economy because we are a majority here!

If Mexicans are issued Mexican Consular ID Cards then that would make it easier to find out who's the illegals are in America.

Why would an American need one?

Why is Rohrabacher against this?

This entire problem can solved be during the 4th of July LONG weekend. Call in the Immigration Sevices and SWAT and Gang UNITS and rid the island of this filth. Lock up all the churches so amnesty cannot be granted, call in the Arizona Gov. and the Honorable Rohrbacher for photo ops and get Pres. OBama involved. Make Avalon the flashpoint regarding this issue for the entire NATION! The Santa Catalina Island Co. can give FREE ZIP RIDES to the forces brought over and a free cocktail at Descanso beach!

I agree. The Cards can be utilized by ICE as a removal tool The Cards can be a good thing as it identifies those criminals who have no legal right to be in America.

How much did that helicopter ride cost? I am sure that's on the taxpaer's back.

It was just another cheap but expensive political stunt Massa Rohr pulled at our our expense.

We need to get rid of him.
South Bay Congressman Dana Rohrabacher "I was horrified to find out that the Mexican government was going into an area in my district to set up an operation that would make it easier for illegal immigrants to come here and stay," said Rohrabacher, a Republican who represents the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Catalina and parts of Orange County. "It's about time we put an end to this."
People think what is happening in Arizona is a FLUKE? Rohrabacher has just turned Avalon into a NATIONAL STORY! The bay is polluted, the island is being hit hard by a recession and now this.

I am glad Mr. Rohrabacher took that helicopter to Catalina. I will gladly pay for a politician to protect America from what has become an invasion of illegals.
I am a taxpayer and I say I support Dana Rohrabacher's helicopter ride.

I think what people are not comprehending here is that the cards are issued and then accepted by various institutions that give them American citizen perks. That is the outrage. When I was in real estate, it blew my mind when lenders offered to get me loans for undocumented peeps. What?! Yet we can't buy land in Mexico. People say that the cards identify illegals; so what? No one is deported here anyway, in case you haven't noticed!

What is wrong with this man? And how many "public" servants have access to a helicopter? Doesn't he have more important, local issues to deal with? What a joke!!

This is NOT the place for tourists anymore unless you are on a boat or diving. The main street is a gang hangout at night. The rest of Avalon is quickly becoming a slum. We went 2 years ago and were horrified. Tourists that we have encountered in our industry related business have said the same. They did not feel safe and felt like they were in a foreign country. If Avalon is ever cleaned up and returned to America it might again be a decent tourist destination.

Thank you, I agree with you.
It's time we kicked them out of this country.
folks, we have been invaded by a foreign government.
Lets lock and load, and get rid of them
the army on the border will help, but we each need to do our duty and round up these criminals by calling ICE and the police.
Don't do business with a mexican
don't eat mexican food.
Don't buy mexican products
Ignore any non english speaking mexican
This will help.
My family was in kalifornia before it became a state, and we are proud Americans ready to defend our rights and constitution.
We happen to be mexican
