Mexican IDs issued on Catalina spark a firestorm
#1 Jun 12, 2010
Legal or not? If they are not in this country legally, and that would include Avalon, they need to be deported back to their home country. Those illegals are stealing American jobs and lowering the standard of living for everyone in the community. I was on Catalina Island about five years ago and everywhere you looked Mexicans were working in the building trades. I would hazard a guess that most of them were on Catalina illegally and they stole a job from a legal resident of this country. Anything that makes it "easier" for an illegal alien to remain and prosper in this country is just flat wrong. What part of "abetting a criminal act" doesn't Mr. Kennedy understand?
There would be no controversy in this country over illegal aliens if the Federal government would just do its job. No illegals=no controversy.

love you people who would "hazzard a guess" based on skin color. that island has had generations of mexicans living there. perhaps since they joined the union.
#3 Jun 12, 2010
Legal is cool, illegal is not, regardless of skin color.
#4 Jun 12, 2010
How about "guessing" as a result of their not speaking a lick of Ingles and having an affinity for everything Red, White, and Green while also expressing contempt for El Gabacho.
American's are dumb as dirt to give their country away but I don't blame Mexicans for taking it since no one's stopping them. What a gutless country.
#5 Jun 12, 2010
stick to the subject.
#1 you were probably never on that island so you don't know if the have contempt for "el gabacho"
#2 were i come from there are whole communities that do not speak english very well and they are American citizens. i grew up in an italian community. they no seakidy much engle and they flew their flags but they were legal.
so keep guessing it makes for an interesting life.

#1)I see the island every day and have been there often.
#2) I KNOW where they're from. So does everyone else who lives on that island. We're not stupid.
#3) I'm tired of your treasonous BS. Tolerance of you and your kind who constantly seek to destroy and undermine rule of law and American sovereignty is getting lots of people hurt. One day I hope you pay for it.

I wonder what the qualifications for obtaining one of these cards is. I am willing to go and get one with a fake name and DOB. All United States Citizens should get one.

Public school enrollment of English Learners is a good estimate of the numbers of illegal immigrant children. A few hundred on Catalina may seem small, but nobody knows how many illegal immigrants go to the island to get their identification documents? The larger the area of residence, the number of English Learners grows exponentially: Catalina - 209; LBUSD - 20,715; LA County - 443,623; CA State - 1,513,233.
Considering that there are over 1.5 million English Language Learners attending California public schools with two parents each, the number of probable illegal immigrants is phenomenal, unsustainable and unmanageable. As a result, California is bankrupt from providing education and other social services to illegal immigrants and their families.
Here's a peek at actual enrollment for public school on Catalina Island in Avalon:

“California’s $20 billion + deficit and its expansion of entitlement programs during the last 8 years have severely impacted the state’s cities, counties and school districts.”-- Supervisor Michael Antonovich, Los Angeles County.
"The argument that illegals contribute more than they receive in government services is nonsense. Illegal immigration has had a catastrophic economic impact on Los Angeles County Our bankrupt health care delivery system has become an HMO for the world and criminal illegal aliens are overwhelming our criminal justice system.
Within this County’s health care delivery system, illegals are being treated at a cost of nearly $500 million dollars a year. The cost alone to our Criminal Justice system for the 25 percent of the illegals that up the jail population exceeds 250 million dollars a year. Additionally, illegals collect over $264 million in CALWORKS payments and $312 million in food stamp allocations These costs alone exceed one billion dollars annually – excluding the cost of education."
California is the leading state of residence of unauthorized immigrant population, with 2.6 million. Texas had 1.7 million unauthorized residents, followed by Florida with 720,000. Total estimated population unauthorized population for all states is 10,750,000!
Mexico is the country of birth for 62% of the U.S. unauthorized immigrant population.

calling illegal invaders "immigrants"
calling a bank robber a "customer"
#17 Jun 12, 2010
we dont need your racist crap or immigration reform
we have lots of laws now that need to be
What good would it do to pass more laws if they dont enforce them ?

Kennedy is a miserable lying piece of garbage. I've read that the lsland has shipped in SWAT teams to deal with the illegal immigrant gang problem, and it's been noted as a dropoff point for illegal alien drug smugglers and human traffickers. The PT is a miserable rag to post what they know to be lies.
My family reunion on Catalina island this summer has been cancelled.
I suggest everyone else do the same. Register your disgust with these people and BOYCOTT CATALINA!!!

Real citizens of Catalina, take your island back!

Our country was built by immigrants and on the blood and sweat of Black people kidnapped from Africa. I'm not mad at the man who crosses the river with his wife and two children seeking a better life, I'm upset with our government for not closing our borders. We're at a state of war. How come people from another country can just walk right in and get a job and food stamps? This did'nt happen during WWII
#22 Jun 12, 2010
Go back to school, Navy boy. America was built by whites. If blacks could build a functional economy, you would have seen one somewhere in the world by now. There isn't, because they can't. As far as kidnapping, black african slaves came from defeated warring tribes. The losers, instead of being killed on the spot, their hearts ripped out of their chest cavity and eaten, were instead marched to standing forts run by blacks and sold to them on the open market to countries all around the world. So you see, if slavery wasn't allowed in the United States, and elsewhere, every single black in this country would have never existed, because their gene pool would have been eliminated by the victorious tribe. Just like Mexico, we didn't get the "cream of the crop" from Africa. We got the losers.
Life isn't all wrapped up in a neat little bow, most of the time. When you grow up and decide to read a book or two, you might stop yapping about things you're ignorant about. Until then, try shutting up.
#23 Jun 13, 2010
. Wow, someone has really mislead you if you think that this country was built by whites. Amazing nonsense you truly try to make out of historical facts. Kidnapping of Africans is true and making this country relevant with slavery work is the truth. When you really look at the facts, this country which I love is still based on abuse and explotation. From 1500 to the present time; Native(yes before and better than stupid youerepos...(Europeans), Africans, Chinese,(I do recall this once belong to Mexico by the way) and now Latino immigrants have made it what it is has become. Look at the Irish, Italians, Russians, Polaks and countless of other groups have made this country what it is...living off the immigrants and exploit, take advantage, and try to get rid of when convenient. These days things are different and you can take your ignorant and racist crap to a place who cares...not in this state or country that needs immigrants.

As for Catalina...it knows why it has continued to thrive. Dana R....puss^^ and all his stupidity can continue to take his nonsense to places with stupidity and share his opinion. As far as Catalina, it a great place and know it will reject this Dana's(girl name) philosophy and do what real loving and caring individuals do.
