Anyone remember this place? The photo is so old that there is no pavement yet on the road, and there are no gas pumps yet which would be almost in front of the porch steps on the left. Pre-automobile days?

Guess it will be a while before the pic is approved. Not sure how to link the photo to my comment. If no photo shows, it should be showing on the PHOTOS tap at the top....right?

Yep, my grandparents owned it after the Castles, and when they retired, an aunt and uncle took over it. It eventually became an antique store. Tore it down to widen the road, did they ever get around to that? Or was it all wasted for nothing?

My grandparents are the last to own it, I am looking to acquire the property soon. The property was torn down because the house became to close to the road after the town widened it, my Grandma had the plow trucks in the winter blowing all of the snow onto her porch and a few windows were broken because of it. I really miss that house and I am hoping to save the rest of the buildings on the property and clean the place up. If you need anymore info just email me at [email protected]

Looking for old photos to scan and reproduce of notables or places of note to add to a display in Ava Town Hall. I will do the frames in my cabinet shop.

i remember going ther as a kid every sunday after church and my grandpa would get me a atomic fire ball out of the big candy bins i thought i was the richest kid in the world getting to pick my own hot ball. but due to the landfill trucks they had to widen the rd and ruined another peace of ava history.

Yes, when life was so simple then and an Atomic Fire Ball would make a kid's day. Nowadays it takes hundreds of dollars for an XBox or Playstation to do that job.
"Progress" always seems to tear down history as it tears down buildings. At least we still have those memories they can't touch.
