Kendra...there are no doubt inconsistencies that you have noticed. There are in every Christian denomination. Many churches have what the bible refers to as "traditions of men". These are things that took hold way back when for some reason which is now forgotten. They probably have somewhat of a good motive and sometimes can use or twist scripture to back them up...but they are still based on traditions of men. Now, there might not be anything wrong with traditions just so long as they are in agreement with the commandment of God. We CANNOT hold the traditions of men above the commandment of God. But to know this, I suggest you begin studying the Bible. As you grow and understand God's Word you will also understand people better.

I'm not Pentecostal...but I agree with the NO TV...it is full of nothing but junk and what you put into your mind will affect you somehow.

I also think it is very appropriate that the ladies (and the men should also)wear modest clothing (meaning non-revealing). I once attended a church (not Pentacostal) where some of the ladies wore such revealing clothing that I was always having to guard my eyes. The Bible teaches us that to look upon a woman (or man)and lust after her is sin. A man or woman who intentionally wears revealing clothing contributes to that sin. The Bible calls it a "stumbling block"...something which causes someone else to fall. Because our society is so sex-crazed, I say that the Christian churches that pay attention to this have the upper hand. But there should not be a double standard.

All religions are funny. Just laugh at them and then, be on your way.

Religious ' books '( Bible, Koran, etc.) are some HUMANS writings to give people guideance in life ( ala; 10 commandments ) DO this - DON'T do THAT, similar to our common laws. Don't cheat, steal, kill, do treat people fairly, etc., common sense that makes civilization - bearable. We have to live with each other, therefore there MUST be rules in a civilized society or chaos rules.

The hiprocracy found in the followers of
' Organized Religion '( as pointed out by kendra )is legend. THEY twist the religion to FIT their needs. In many, women ARE second-class citizens. They burned witches. They kill followers of OTHER RELIGIONS because they think differently. Mormons have ' magic underwear '!

Just live your life well and treat others as you would want to be treated.

The Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Santa and god all dwell in the same place

...your imagination!

You have ONE life to live - do it well.

Uh Oh
Kendra I'm assuming you went into the marriage with an understanding of how things were in his life did you not?
I'm not seeing that any of the thoughts above are an option.
Myself, I was joking.
You knew his beliefs.
It's easy to wear dresses, and find other things to do with your time than watch TV, but Kendra, it's not easy to live a lie if you don't also feel the same way.

If he were to read the above comments his wishes might be that you turn off the computer and spend a more time with the sisters of the church.
You'll notice you have a support system there unlike any other.

i just got back on....i bet everyone is gone on to bed.....i felt a little "faintified" this pm.......i remember when i went to a pentecostal church when i was young.....it "skeered" me...due to the fact of the speaking in tongues.....my husband and i had gotten into a little "discussion" about this when he said something about not being able to watch tv, his granddaughter was over there watching it, because her parents had gotten rid of their tv.......the pastor of the church wanted everyone to rid them of the contraption.....that is why i just couldn't understand why they could in one house and not in another........he said...u could not stop a wren from flying over your head but you could stop it from building a nest.......he doesn't live the way his family lives (church), but he said he had at one time.....I do not go to church.....but i believe in God.....i pray.....i have a tv in the living room and one in each bedroom......he said if he decided to go back to the church that i would dress accordingly....and i laughed and told him that i would continue to dress as i do now.....which i do not dress revealing everything, but in my younger days ...i did.....i wear jewelry......and i keep my hair down, straightened, and highlighted........i basically wanted others opinions......and i talk religion to everyone i come into contact with...at the supermarket today....i ran into a older lady...and we kinda had "church" right there.....she told me to turn tv on at 8:30am in the morning on channel 260....i had told her about a book i was looking at in the dr office the other day....yes, i am starved for information...people has told me that.... they have bought me books to study etc....trying to help.....i am not a bad person, altho, if you notice on the forums that i do flirt ......and act silly....but i am far from perfect as every other person....it is the people who think they are or they are going to heaven and i won't be seeing there that gets my goat...

Kendra...Perhaps you are already doing this but I suggest that if you are truly hungry for wisdom that you don't read ANY other book except the Holy bible. None of us understands everything we read. But it is the most incredible, life-giving, book on earth. The Bible says it was divinely inspired by God. Meaning that He placed it into the hearts of the people who penned it. I continue to encourage you to stay away from TV....unless you are good at filtering out the junk and trash which is almost impossible to do.

Also...keep in mind, that your concern about people in church being hypocrites is a bit judgmental too. You might get that impression on the surface but you might be wrong. I just hope you would not point a finger at church-goers and tell them not to point fingers...get what I'm saying?

Jesus does love you...He is concerned about the inside. The Bible says we should not judge based upon appearance but rather we should judge righteous judgement...that's GOOD STUFF! Best regards.
