I have been hearing some pretty wild stories about this place. I know that they don't hire much, but at the rate they are firing people for drugs, sex in the parking lot, they should be hiring soon!

yeah, copeland is a veritable breeding ground for drugs and loose morals. if you dont trust your spouse, you definetly dont want them working there. and it helps to be clean too. you never know when some idiot will leave paraphanelia laying around and cost you your job.

Copeland use to be a good place to work but as it grew so did the drug problem and sex problem. Copeland got where they will hire anyone but that is not their fault really they can only hire those who put in for the job.
Maybe if they would consider hiring older folks that don't have a high school diploma but has worked all their life's to make ends meet??????? I don't know this is just my opinion I worked there for alot of years and watched it go from a family atmosphere to what it is today (drugs and sex) I know you get this everywhere you go so Copeland may not be as bad as any other factory.
I heard that Emerson was just as bad.

I pointed out because my daughter was sick & their nurse would not give me a medical leave of absence. BUT a person can fake a migraine & go home without a point & still work there. I knew everything about any job in that plant & they chose to fire me. It is their loss. Mine too, since I cannot get a job anywhere because no one is hiring. I would not work for Mike Redfern if he paid me a million dollars...Well maybe as long as I didn't have to talk to him.
It's all politics at that plant. If you know them well & kiss their a**, you are safe. If you push them, you are gone. Just like that.

Anywhere in the United States that you work, people go out in the parking lot and do drugs. It's part of life. People like drugs. What the hell are you gonna do about it? The best thing to do is to not think you're better than these people just because you want a boring life and don't do the same.

You know, for "A Smart Person" you sound like you should be riding the short bus. What an idiotic statement you just made. If not doing drugs means I have a boring life, then bring it on. To say that people who do drugs have more fun than those who choose not to be so stupid as to do drugs, is just rediculous. I am not on any type of drug, medication, anything at all, and I have a BETTER time just being me, rather than getting "messed up" just to have a good time. If that is all you have to do with your life, pop pills smoke crack, whatever, then you are a sad excuse. Do something positive with your life. I have seen way too many people neglect their children because of drugs. I personaly think people who do them are extremely low class. But that's just me. Go ahead and comment on that, but you better do your drug of choice first so you can have a "good" time doing it, idiot.

To smart person- what kind of immature idiot are you?? Only a person who uses would make this kind of comment. If you have children, you should think of the kind of example this is setting to them! You may not think about it when they are little but they do get older on you quick and they know more than you think. Copeland is not a bad place, its just hard sometimes with the politics and bs that flies!! You just walk on, and with any job, ignore the lower class druggies and the ones just wanting to score another number on their sex list!!! It may be hard for some to believe, but common people do not see these habits as something to envy!!! This job has kept me off foodstamps and medicaid so I really cant complain.

Copeland sucks! Is they did a random drug test once in a while over half of the plant would be gone! I worked on first shift and it just seemed to be mainly people having affairs though! As for second and third shifts...more drugs

Haha here we go with the "sex and drugs" are the end of the world argument from the small town folk. If you people would get out of Ava once in a while, you might realize what I'm talking about. I don't have to do drugs to have fun. I just know that my life is overall more rewarding to me than your's is to you because my life contains fun. Your ideas of fun is to go to Silver Dollar City, go to church, watch reality tv, or spread rumors about others. I don't do any of these things because I have drugs! I don't have to go to Silver Dollar City and give all my money to some millionaire, because I can spend 5 bucks, get high, and enjoy my entire day with my friends and family doing nothing. So go ahead and keep conforming to society and thinking that the only source of fun is money. I'll be laughing at you the entire time.

To smart person: For starters idiot this is supposed to be about Copeland. And again I will say that this factory may not be perfect but, it has helped me pay my way in this world, and for that I am grateful because they didnt have to hire me to start with as for any employee there!! Second, I chose to bring my kids in to this world and I do enjoy them. I tried some drugs alot of years ago, before kids, and the drugs and drinking do not compare to the joy of my family! And you stupid person, you have some kind of issues!!! I never said I went to church or Branson or anything else! You know, assuming only makes an ass of you!

Clearly you're missing my point. I'm not against Copeland. I have very many close family members and friends that work there. My point was that all you idiots that claim that drugs are the ruin of the world have no idea what you're talking about. Also, if your fun doesn't include going places and spending money, then why don't you explain what you do for fun that is so much better than doing drugs?

See, that's the whole thing. You see drug use as stupidity, I see NASCAR as stupidity. Also, I could operate heavy machinery high FAR better than most Americans can completely sober. Also, it's pretty sad when a guy that just smoked a J can drive a car better than 97 percent of Americans. People are stupid, drugs don't make them that way. THEY make themselves that way.

In reply to " A Smart Person" So, we all know that pot is not the worst drug in the world for you. Meth, cocaine, etc. is what I was speaking of. Pot is not something I would ever do, but anyone I have ever known that has smoked pot has been laid back for the most part, and have just been happy, and hungry all the time. I KNOW, as fact, that drug use, the drugs that take battery acid, and household cleaners, and cold meds to make, are the ones that ruin peoples' lives. So before you go jumping my ass and telling me that these people can do things far better high, than I can sober, shut the hell up, and listen. I have had some close family members who have used, and are still using. Their habits weren't bad at first, but as time went on, got worse and worse, and they would do anything, I mean anything to get money for another fix. Even steal money from their own parents. Like 3000 dollars that was being saved for a down payment on a new home. They have children, but the children no longer came first after drug usage. Pretty soon, they would pawn them off on anyone who would watch them, no matter who it was. Luckily most of the time, it was their parents that took their kids, but sometimes it wasn't. Eventually, their parents got disgusted with it, and just had nothing to do with them anymore. The kids are the ones that suffered in this situation. Go ahead, tell me how you aren't going to have kids to do your part in being responsible. Shut up, don't want to hear it. Back to my story. Years later, it is found out that the children were being mistreated far worse than YOUR brain could imgaine, or care for that matter, as you seem to have no heart. Then a phone call was received that one of the users children had passed away. A child. Do you understand that? An innocent child, that didn't even get a chance to experience life at all. I'm guessing you don't give two shits so I don't know why I am telling you this, but it makes me feel better to let people know about what drugs can do for your kids. Again, not saying pot is the reason, it's the hard drugs. As we sat at the funeral, all we could do was cry, and wonder. For a moment, pretend that you're human for a minute, and have a heart. What would you do if you had to bury your grandchild, or your child, or your cousin, or niece/nephew? Then let's see how you would feel if you found out that they had been molested, raped, beaten, anything you can imagine since they were about 5 years old. Don't you dare get on here and tell me it still would have happened, had the parents not been doing drugs. IT WOULDN'T HAVE. Parents who don't use drugs as a recreation tool take care of their kids, and see to it that they aren't being harmed, and that their caregivers when they are away, aren't trash, and pedaphilles, etc. I've known too many stories of children getting abused sexually because their parents are high out of their mind and don't know what the hell is going on in their own homes. Some people can function better than others, but face it, they are still drug users. I don't even consider pot a drug. I consider alcohol to be far worse that pot ever thought about being. So if that is your drug of choice, then I don't even really consider you using a drug to "have fun". Anyways, don't get on here and say one bad word about the story I just told you. I am in no mood for your hateful ass remarks about people and their kids, and this and that. I was simply telling you a story that is fact, and should be taken into consideration by anyone who uses hard drugs. If you can understand where I'm coming from, perhaps you're not as assy as I thought.

I never defended meth at all, and I never will. It's beyond a drug. It does nothing to help a person. Drugs are medicine that helps people. Marijuana is a medicine, and that is what I use. I just wanted to say though that it doesn't take a drug user to put their kids in a compromising situation. How about the people that put their kids in religious programs and the priest rapes and molests them? I'm sure that priest isn't on drugs. How about when parents put their kids into a school where they don't learn about how the world works and when they graduate, they don't know how to support themselves? Blame what you want on meth, but stuff like this happens every day, meth or not. America is a horrible, horrible place and it is quickly going down the drain.

To "laughing", I've never been there (thank God), but I have heard some horror stories and I really feel for these families!!
To "A smart person", I know you may think you can do anything better than me, but you are sadly mistaked!! I have had to work with people that are high and/or drunk and they have about hurt me!! This makes a shitty situation for all involved. I dont want to get hurt, Im sure if they were thinking straight they would not want to hurt anyone, but most of all if I ever do get hurt as a result of some idiot high, it would cost jobs and they are not easy to come by.
Back to the subject: Copeland could greatly benefit its work force with random drug testing and instead of having an age requirement, have a maturity level requirement!!! Thats just my opinion.
