AVA, Mo --The Douglas County Sheriff's Department arrested a 36-year-old Ava man in the disappearance and death of Rene Williams. Chris Revak was taken into custody Saturday morning.
He was found hung in his cell at the county jail Sunday afternoon. "He was segregated; however he had been checked every 15 minutes. We had no indicators that he would do something like this," said Sheriff Chris Degase.

Rene Williams was last seen closing up the Eagles Lodge in Ava back in March 2007. The sheriff says Revak was a patron of the Lodge and that Revak's DNA was found at the scene back in 2007.

Williams’s body still hasn't been found, but investigators are confident they'll locate it.

More on this story on KY3 news at five and six.

why would you want to see a log showing he was checked on every 15 min? What would that prove? That he was really checked on every 15 min. Who really gives a shit when they checked on him! He was a grown man, did he really need a babysitter?

In this type of situation, I feel he did need a babysitter. I dont believe for one minute that they checked on him every 15 minutes.
This is or was a high profile case and they just let it slip thru their fingers.

With all the grants and taxes, can they not get some cameras or something going on? This wasnt the first suicide in that jail.

Not saying that all prisoners should have to b watched but mayb they should do somthing with the cells so they dont have to worry about losing a prisoner. Especially one that they still needed very important info from. Prisoners have been hanging themselves for many years. You think they wud come up with different design for jail cells to prevent it. Dont think alot of people wud have been so concerned that he took his own life if they had found out where Rene is though. Don't know just my opinion!:)

I would have put him in padded room in jacket but im pretty sure you can only hold a prisoner in that manner for a certain amount of time legally. Hopefully our officers have more leads and they will get this case solved

Just get some cameras....They make some for your home or business that run $50.00 bucks.....Or new deputies that do their assigned job.

The deputies knew enough to charge him with 2nd degree murder so why are they being so secretive on the details? Did they really have the right guy? Did he admit? If they knew all this on Saturday, why are we just hearing of it on Monday?

HE SHOULD HAVE HAD TO SUFFER IN PRISION FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE, the only bad thing about him being dead is that now he suffers in hell rather than in jail. Who cares if he's dead but now justice can't be served in a sense!!!!

If I had taken the time to kill someone in your family, then I really don't think YOU would give a shit what happened to me, now would you?
I do agree that he had info that the sheriff's office needed to find out, but do you really think he would tell, after not telling anyone about it in 2 1/2 years? Yes, he should have had to pay for what he did, but we can't do anything about that now.

thats right jail is jail is not a hotel and if douglas got paid enough for extra deputys they could have had someone there watching him 24-7 it goes back to not having a new enough jail and then im sure some of you people would have cried the RIGHTS game that his rights were violated cause the police pressured him to talk anyways he wouldent have spent the rest of his life in jail he would have been out in 10 or 15 years

I really don't think the deputies charged him, i believe it was the prosecutor. And who knows what he admitted to, and what he didnt admit to. But, apparently he had some connection, or his lame ass wouldn't have been up there in jail to begin with. I think it was broadcast on the news last night, and then revealed to all of us today. The deputies probably wasnt busy at all, I'm sure they had time to tell everyone between doing their regular jobs, and watching an inmate every 15 min, and visitation day at the jail, and then having to deal with him committing suicide, there probably wasn't ANYTHING for any of them to do, but get on the horn and call KY3 and tell them to get down here so everyone could find this out just as quick as possible huh? I think the county is doing a great job with everything.

And everyone has the answer to everything. There are only so many tax dollars and so much personnel. The only way to stop someone determined to kill themselves is to strip them naked and a cement cell. Then they would still probably figure out away.

Well said Big Bird!!! And just to add to what the deputies were already busy with, they were also searching, trying to find a body. It's funny to me that Koop had two years and did nothing and now Degase has actually accomplished something all these other people want to get on his tail. I am thankful we now have a Sheriff that actually cares and makes an attempt to do his job!

well, that's because they KNOW that you are suicidal dipshit. On the news, i believe that degase said that they had no reason to believe that he would do that to himself, had even had his attorney present...doesn't sound like a suicidal person to me, sounds like a guilty one! and I'm sure that if they thought he was suicidal that they would have put cameras or something on him, but like I said they were unaware of it, but yet they were still looking in on him every 15 minutes even though they had no reason to.
