Husband charged after using SUV to hit man

“After the investigation into the incident with Mrs. Moretti is closed out, if it's found that he was at fault for that particular portion of the incident, then it will be exceptionally cleared since he has died”

New charges were filed in the case of a Fayetteville man who police say ran over another man after that man attacked his wife. via News 14 Charlotte

They tell citizens to protect themselves within the law. According to the law I can't shoot someone trying to breaking into my house, he has to physically be in my house in order for it to be self-defense. They should be pinning a medal on this guy, instead they are charging him with murder.

If someone threatens my family it is my job to protect them at all costs. Mr. Moretti did the right thing. He protected his family and eliminated the problem!

I agree with ridiculous, we are told to protect ourselves "within" the confines of the "Law". But if u follow those guidelines you are sure to be a victim instead of a survivor in a situation like that. There have been several unsolved murders in this city in the past year, all the attention and manpower being used by the Fayetteville Police would be of much better use staying out in the streets PREVENTING things like this from happening, instead of convicting a man who was just doing what ANY american would have done in the same situation.....protect his family.
I do have the deepest sympathys for the victims family however. It is a terrible thing when a life is lost.
I am Stans friend and i know that although he may not have entirely right in doing what he did, I believe that he acted the only way he knew how, and that was to defend what was loved and most dear to him at that point in time.......his family.
To make a long story short this should have never happened. If the police that are sworn to protect our community are never around when it REALLY matters........then we have no other choice but to defend what is our with ANY force nessecary.

I am sorry but Mr. Moretti was way out of line. I think he over reacted or his wife over re acted. You don't chase someone down like a dog and kill them once they have fled. That is not self defense it's murder. How can someone running for their life be a threat. Mr. Moretti should have tended to his wife, called 911 and let the plice sort it out the legal way. He is no hero and it;s a disgrace anyone would refer his as such. In the end it's just a said situation because both families will suffer tremedously from something that could have been avoided.

How could his wife have over-reacted? The guy had a knife to her! I sure don't feel sorry for anyone who was "running for their life" after trying to rob someone. This poster is the type who as they were being robbed would be saying sorry to the mugger because they realized they must have a hard life to have to resort to crime. I guess some people don't tire of being victims in this city.

I FEEL THAT IT IS AN UNFORTUNATE SITUATION, BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE JUSTICE INTO YOUR OWN HANDS. IF THERE WAS A "KNIFE-POINT ROBBERY" THEY SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE COPS AND LET THEM DEAL WITH IT. AND TO MKAY WHO WROTE THAT COMMENT, WOULD YOU SAY THE SAME THING IF THE VICTIM WAS A MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY. I AM SOMEONE WHO WOULD WRECK MY CAR TO AVOID HITING A ANIMAL IN THE STREET. LORD KNOWS WHA I WOULD DO IF I HIT A HUMAN. THIS IS NOT ABOUT POWER, IT'S ABOUT RIGHT AND WRONG! MY REGARDS GO OUT TO THE MCCLEOD FAMILY.

If they were a member of my family then more than likely I wouldn't be surprised. The way laws are today if my wife was attacked I would have to say "sorry honey, I need to wait for him to stab you before I can do anything, and then I need to just call the cops while I stand helplessly by." Customer, would you just stand by and watch someone in your family getting mugged? Would you leave them to fend for themselves while you went to get the cops; who around here take almost 20 minutes to respond to anything? That's no joke I know I called the cops with an accident right down the street from Primo's Pizza took them 45minutes to respond and I could see the Bonnie Doone precint from where I was standing. Also, to call McCleod a victim would imply he was innocent of something.

I cannot believe the stuff that I am reading First to MKAY you act like the man was still standing there stabbing the wife. Come on now did the wife get stabbed? Somebody tell me!!!! There is no reason for that husband to chase that man down other than to detain him and thats even dangerous. But to run him over not once, not twice, but three times. You asked customer would they just stand by and watch a family member get mugged, I don't think anyone would stand by and just watch, but you seem to forget the man ran away!!!!

I cannot believe Mkay!!!!! Jesus, you don't hunt a man down like a animal. Mr. Morretti was wrong, wrong, wrong. When Mr. McCleod ran his wife was no longer in danger. TO chase someone and detain them that's one thing but to intentinally run him over three times. That's justice because his wife could have been stabbed. Mr. morretti will likely have a hard time explaining his actions to a jury.

Before everyone passes judgement, what would you do if you saw someone with a knife going after someone you love??? When something like this happens in the heat of the moment, i dont care who you are, you probrably go a little crazy, its easy to hear the story and say he should of this or that, When all is done i am sure Mr. Moretti wishes he did things differently.I feel this is a tragedy for both sides.I dont believe Mr.Moretti should be prosecuted.Thats how i feel

I would like to say that Stan was there for my husband and myself when he needed a job to support our family! I am sorry for the loss of life but I do believe that Stan was protecting his wife, the mother of his child, and maybe people need to remember that Stan did NOT start the ball rolling He simply reacted to the threat to his wife as I think any red blooded american man would! Good Luck Stan you are in my prayers!!

According to the facts, Stan is a cold-bloodied murderer. 100 years ago this would have been a lynching and you supporters are exactly the kind who would have joined the mob (posse, thugs, vigilante group). Stan became the judge, jury and executioner, just the way it used to be. Now should someone take care of him the way he did the alleged robber? Ask yourself why a 911 call from his wife and friend came only well after the murder. Eyewitnesses called as they watched Stan repeatedly run over Mr. McCleod. Self defense, ha!

For the ones who have pity for Stan the psycho, I will be glad to give you a situation that occurred to me in his Tattoo shop. Not only is this guy a loose cannon but he had a "Falling Down" moment that should have NEVER occurred against McCleod.

I was in his store looking at his jewelry and jokingly conversed with him. Then psycho Stan snapped after I asked him if the gold he displayed was really real. Not only did his pathetic nasty self kick me out of his shop, but cussed me out seven different ways around other customers. woo-hoo

As history tends to repeat itself in a different dialogue, I'm lucky I didn't get killed either, because of a teasing joke. Stan, I think you forgot to take your medication that day. You need more than pills, you need MENTAL help. And if you look at the photos of Mcleod and Stan, this could've have been tussled out at the least. But no, Stan got cocky and crack, then ran over a man who was already running from him.

Point blank, the punishment doesn't fit the crime, if there was even a crime committed.

America, we have every right to protect ourselves-agreed. But also let's not forget control and sanity. We have a crime issue in good ol' Fayetteville, but at the same time we also have guys snapping in the malls and schools shooting several people in our country in a vigilante style too. This guy Stan fits the profile perfectly to snap in our community. Oh yea he already did. Oh yea, Stan your jewelry it was FAKE.

Sounds like your butt is just sore and you need someplace to vent. You come here and say you were joking about his jewelry being fake and then you add a parting shot that it is fake. You weren't joking with him numb nuts. I'm betting you are a butthole in real life who was just being a sh#t stirrer. I'm glad you were lucky enough to have survived your near death expierience. Ha, you aren't even worth a bullet!

A place to vent? Looks like your defending his actions. Let me guess, you were there or maybe he helped you in a time of crisis. Actually my post showed another example of how he "deals" with his anger.

As far as my closing, heck why not add a little bit of humor to it. Oh yea, can't do that someone might kick me out of the post or run me over too?

Anyways, there big guy I think the point needs to be geared to the actions of your super-psycho-hero friend. Who in the hell was he saving after the "villain" ran away after Stan shot 2 bullets at him, then chased him and ran him over 3 - 4 times?

Another thing, you mention a whole lot about certain body parts in your comment (nuts, butthole etc..). Seems like your a die hard friend of his, but if your not careful buddy, you might be in the slammer soon enough having all those body parts excavated too.- And I think your worth having a soap on a rope package mailed out when you get there.

The jewelry was fake.:)

Oh, gay references to insult somebody on an internet forum...how orginal. Actually, I don't know the person, but I do applaud what he did. The criminals in this city need more treatment like this. Run'em all over!

Actually you BEGAN the insults when he made his post on the forum. And he never said anything about you being gay, you did. Body excavations are routinely done in prison everyday, to rule out concealment of drugs.

And the soap on the rope is known to be used preferably, especially if your in an open bay shower so if you do drop your soap, you don't feel uncomfortable when you bend over to get your soap.

Closet door seems to be opening or maybe your hiding something, Fayettenam?

Stan Moretti's wife is pregnant with their child. I can see why some poeple are quick to say that he acted in the wrong, but this is enough to alter any man's judgement. We know that his wife was clearly a victim here, it's easy to say that you wouldn;t have reacted in the same way, but really...is that true?

Ghost is right Stan has anger issue problems. I have seen him try to act like a wise guy. Use to make me laugh. He bullies people, over reacts and is known to bully and beat up on women. Hey,it's great that he helps his friends out. His friends might want to start a fund raiser for his family because I have a feeling Stan won't be around for the next 18 to 20. At least he can get some help.
