Why do these people who murder get off easy if they plea guilty?- To me pleading guilty to murder saves on paper work and time to head to the execution chamber, not to get a lesser punishment.-- What this is saying, "If I kill someone and plea guilty, the state won't stop my heart, I'll have three meals a day and a warm place to sleep."

I doubt that he will have a very long life when the convict community finds out what he is in for.....they have their own justice system and killing a child is not tolerated.

I wish they would do away with plea bargains ... I agree with Pam if I really wanted to harm someone then I could do it and not have to worry about the death penalty. I have heard somewhere before that putting someone on Death row cost more than housing someone for the rest of their life. I think that would depend on the age of the person and how long they are on death row before actually getting to the death camber.

I say if they are guilty without reasonable doubt ... put them on death row without the long wait. That will not only free the world of killers it would also free up the prisons.

PAM - I completely agree with you 100%- it is not fair! However, by taking a plea deal, it saves us taxpayers the money for a long drawn out trial, followed by the MANY appeals a convict gets to file when given the death penalty. It is VERY costly for us all. Now he will be given life in prison with no chance of parole and as Hank mentioned in his post, the other prisoners will have a field day with him. His life in prison will be anything other than 3 meals and a warm bed. He will have to keep one eye open at all times - 24/7!! Justice will be served and if by luck not served in prison, he does have to die SOMEDAY and meet the consequences then!!!!!!!!!!

Never understood this desperate desire to live at any cost. I hear child killers aren't popular in prison. Aside from that, no hope of ever getting out, decade after decade, not a nice life in there, really worth it?. I know I haven't faced it - so I might scream like a little girl if it were me facing death, but speaking from the safety of my chair I'd choose death and wish I could have it the next day.

I often wonder if a given number of years in prison isn't really crueler than some of the ancient punishments like whipping or even more severe corporal punishments. Meant as a humane punishment, I'm not at all sure it is. Which would you choose?

There should have been NO deals to spare his worthless life.He gave no consideration to that baby and the amount of excrutiating pain he inflicted to that child before it died. He should have been convicted of murder and executed. Painfully....Period.

Shawn, the only justice in all of this is that you will be VERY popular in prison. Except your "fractures" and "bruising" will appear at the opposite end of your body. Have fun biting the pillow, pal!

VICTIMS have become a commodity! The murderers use them to get a better "deal" and save their despicable lives. They "TRADE" information where they hid the bodies or they declare culpability. The state SAVES time.
And the murderer gets room and board for many years free of cost.

Shame..shame..shame!!!

They should not let someone plea a case like this! Of course if we're lucky someone will take care of real justice post haste!
