Officials Talk About Merging Fire Districts
#1 May 19, 2006
Four of the five departments are already part of the Western Reserve Joint Fire District. What benefit would it be to bring Springfield on board? Springfield would be the one to loose. They would have to change the most to fit into the "Fire District". Also, Springfield is the only department that transports their own medical calls. All others are consigned to the "private" ambulance services. Would Springfield have to cover approximately 100 sq. miles of 'the district'? They are not strong enough to provide a speedy ambulance to that sized area!
