Because they can't base an investigation off of a rumor. People have rights, even criminals. It isn't the polices fault. They did what they were suppose to.

That's exactly who's fault it is that this was ran into the ground for so long. This was so wrong to all involved. I pray that Paul's family has some form of closure but they will never be at peace. What our law officials have done to this family, what they do on a daily basis to all of our families in this community is sickening! If people do not wake up and start coming together and making these "law enforcers" do what they are suppose to do, things are never going to get any better. We are at rock bottom right now, and it's time for things to change.

Excuse me, whooooy, if the police suspect a person of a crime, yes they do have the right to stop, detain and look ..From the get-go the Police did a shotty job. Paul was a person whom was well thought of and loved..the police here are so not trained an they will hire anyone! Shame on them..God bless his family. they can have some closure now. It was more than a rumor, Paul was last seen at Bobby's house, to collect a debt. That is where, the police should of started investigating! It's almost as if the police were protecting this murderer!!!

sue you need to read up on the law. the police can detain a person for a short period of time. but without hard evidence cannot go into someone's home. no matter who they are. i am thankful for that. you think its bad now image if the police had the power to enter anyone's home at anytime.

The Austin poice did do a bad job, but because they weren't trying, but because they simply did not know how to investigate this kind of crime, and the sad part of this is Lonnie did not see he was doing a bad job. If, he would have call the State Police in and let them do what they do best, Paul could have been found a lot sooner and the killer could have been in jail, it's sad to think one man's false pride led to this taking so long.

what this person is saying is sad, but true. and if they went by rumors than they would have never searched the house because its been rumored that they threw him in a wood chipper since the very beginning
