Hello Everyone,
I am going to be moving to town. Very excited to leave a little of Little Rock each day to the quiet neighborhood I have found. Where do people go and what do they do in Austin?

Well , if you're looking at the main part of Austin , you may as well say Cabot , cause it's pretty close. Then there's old Austin which runs along hwy 38. Then, as if that weren't enough (LOL!) Austin also runs through a small area along hwy 31 between Butlerville and Woodlawn , but only on the west side , the east side across the road is considered "Ward" , which is very strange. I;m not sure which neighborhood you're going to , but it's all relative to the Cabot area. It's s-l-o-w-e-r paced than Little Rock for sure. There's quite a bit of growth in the areas in the last few years that i've noticed - trust me , i was born in San Francisco and lived in Cali most of my life ,...i know when something is expanding , ha! There's not as many options of "to do's" as Little Rock , but there's still stuff to keep you occupied, depending on what your interests are. Some good restaurants, movies, etc. There's no nightclubs or bars, but if thats not your thing anyway , you will be allright cause there's everything else. If you post what you're after , i can probably come up with some things and places to find it. My newest little "diversion" is the new bowling lanes that started up recently - it's a cool "state of the art" bowling facility with all the latest computerized "Doo-dah's" and all that stuff , an ok kinda Italian cafe type restaurant , etc (too bad they have no BEER....LOL!). But , all in all , if your desire was to get away from all the city madness , you found the place. Compared to my "Rat Race" past , i like the quiet out here - only time there's going to be "disturbing the peace" in my neighborhood is IF I start it, and that's usually a complaint to the dispatcher "yeah , there's some guy on my street playing loud guitar" , LOL!

Cabot traffic is worse than Little Rock. Cabot is just a suburb of Little Rock, we have no good resturants because of the dry county, we have no good stores. You will just be driving up here to sleep, as there is nothing to do here except wait on traffic lights! Do yourself a favor, and stay in Little Rock!

Yeah, um....your points seem to be...pointless.

1. Cabot traffic is HARDLY worse than little rock.

2. A good restaurant has NOTHING to do with being in a dry county and not serving alcohol - unless you need to get smashed at your meal , or you're a wine snob, which in that case..you'd find a good restaurant (they are there), then get your "red nose" on at the house.

3. Stores??! Whaddaya want? "Sharper Image"??! "Trader Joe's"?!..pffft! Come on! don't tell me that you never go to Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Knight's, Kroger, Goody's, etc...cause that standard won't be good enough for your basic needs? HAHA! If you want anything else, it's just a 25 minute drive! How hard is THAT? Can't find the store ya want? You got a computer! Go online like i do! you won't even have to get out! It comes to you!

4. Last but not least - i'm sure the "Stay in Little Rock" helpful hint may be a bit late, as by now..they probably have executed the move, and are already here. LOL! Got any new neighbors??

Yes, the traffic is pretty bad, but there are at least 2 or 3 restaurants in the area that serve alcohol. It is a nice area, and still close enough to decent shopping.

I love the quietness of Austin and your still close enough to Cabot for the convenience of shopping and stores. Only one problem though, get ready for the extremely high water bill.
8000 gal. usage a month will run around $100.
It sucks, but its not perfect anywhere you live.
Enjoy.
