I have heard that Winston is the place to have your kids play baseball, but that you have to be careful and not piss off a guy by the name of Jim Driskell. Does anybody know anything about the guy?!

Driskell has coached my son and he's top notch. There isn't a better coach or a better baseball program for little league than Winston. It's bar none. That's why so many drive from Bremen, Lagrange, etc just to have their child play at Winston. The other DC parks can't compare. If you have a child truly interested in baseball, do them a huge favor and put them at Winston.

That is interesting Winston, since you have been the only person that I have had the opportunity to talk with who feels that way about Mr. Driskell. I had an opportunity to visit the park last night, and they happened to be having park tournament games this week. I watched part of a 12U,8U, and final 3 innings of a 10U game. I have never seen officiating that bad. There were 2 blown calls at second base. The umpire apparently thought that they were both force plays, so no tag had to be made. I may be wrong but when a runner at first attempts a steal he has to be tagged. I am right aren't I? The third call, and by far one of the worst decisions I have ever seen made, was in the middle of the 5th inning. The visiting team was down by 10,with 2 men on base and a batter at the plate.I believe that there were 2 outs. The umpire makes the decision to call the ballgame! Realizing that a time limit exists, and knowing that this would be their last at bat,why would someone do that to a child?

Then why was your first post troll-bait?

You have been to the park when games were on - why didn't you ask the parents who were there rather than come back here to get anonymous BS from topix?

They play under the Dizzy Dean organization, not Little League, so their World Series would be in Mississippi.

I did speak to the parents and I have the same question. Who is Jim Driskell? Apparently the Winston world revolves around his every breath and footfall!

Winston is either a park you love or you hate! Either way there are good athletes at every park. Winston win's a lot of tournaments when it comes to All-Stars so they must be doing something right. We went there for 1 season and did not care for it, even though many of our friends are there. There is nothing that I can say bad about the park it just wasn't for us. We went in the fall and that is never a good time to go to a new park. Most athletes play football in the fall.

You will have to just sign your child up and go there. If you are looking for perfect umpires, greatest parents, greatest coaches then you will need to wait for your child to grow up and if they make it to pro then there you have it! There is no such thing as any of those in little league.

Good luck on finding the perfect place, I hope that you find a little league organization that is good for you and your family.

I really dont know what ya'all are talking about. Best baseball is played at Hunter Park bar none. And..when it comes to talent, Hunter Park 11U All Stars team has beat...and I mean Beat! Winton All Stars on every single game. 6 or 7 of them by now. Coaching and Blues are great. No complaints whatsoever.

You want a fair place for your kid to play? Hunter Park is your place. Its ran by the city of Douglasville and not an association of parents with personal agendas like other DC parks.

Hunter Park is your place. It's run by the parent of a player who is also an employee of the City of Douglasville - who's word is law, not an association of parents who also have personal agendas like at other DC parks.

The 6,7,8,9, and 10 year old winston all star teams all won district of which hunter park is a part of , so I would have to say that overall, winston is very ahead of hunter park at this point. After 10 years old many of the kids are playing travel ball so the competition is a little more watered down. I have nothing against hunter park as I played there from tee ball through 18 yrs old. I hope both parks have a ton of success
