Anyone who takes a moment to look at the creeks that flooded will notice that they are blocked with fallen trees and brush. It is no surprize that the blockage will create "beaver dams" and flood the surrounding areas.
Our government needs to realize that these creeks need to be cleared on a regular basis. |

In meetings I could not get them to commit to inspecting the creeks and open drainage on a scheduled basis. Every time we asked a question about what are you going to do about this we got the same pat answer. This was 21 inches of rain and a system does not exist which will protect us from that amount of rainfall.
Regardless of the scope of the flood anything they do to keep the creeks and drainage flowing will lessen the impact and save property and maybe lives. The government should not hide behind nature and give up. There are things they could have done which might only have effected the flood levels by a foot but there who knows how many people who were flooded by only a foot. |
