Since this board is discussing a Bob Dyer column, it's time to mention this. In this morning's paper Dyer had another column, this one regarding someone trying to buy a car and the dealer trying to force her to give out her social security number, so she declined the sale.

A discussion then ensued, whether the SS # was required or not, along with people commenting on bad experiences they had at car dealerships. As of about 15 minutes ago, the whole Topix board on that subject is gone, and so is any mention of today's Dyer column at ohio.com

Unless it re-appears soon(in the unlikely event it was a glich of some kind), looks like some serious censoring on ABJ's part.

as much as i admire the many, many good things that have happened to improve life in cuyahoga falls under mayor don robart, this is one of the most underhanded and absolute evidence of our government's willful imposition into our wallets, without citizen vote or recourse...

in the most serious emphasis possible, the judge needs to be dismissed through impeachment as citizen's demand our country back, house by house, city by city, state by state, or we will merely be renting our country from banks and poiticians who have empowered those banks (and invested in them, too...how much bank stock or oil futures do you own? if there is a politician who hasn't maintained ownerships in these enrichments its only because they are dead.)

Other than the above, why would anyone even go to CF?, let alone want to live there?
Once Ladd's changed owners from the Proccacio family there was no reason to stay in the falls anymore.

to May Fong

the Falls is one of the best places to raise children in America; safe, clean, with things from the Natatorium to our parks to offer families used to other conditions elsewhere

the schools and education offered here at one time was one of the highest and best in the entire United States, and is still in the upper echelon

property values and foreclosure difficulties run above and under national averages

there is a smaller town awareness that builds a sense of community that is as strong as anywhere else i have klived, and i have traveled greatly over the past 30 years, always returning to the quieter and more refined dignity of life in the Falls...believe me, compared to many other similar sized towns in Ohio and throughout the United States, Cuyahoga Falls is the shade tree in the desert.

My friend, it has nothing to do with "the sky is falling," it has to do with reality. Sadly, the govt is NO longer of the people, for the people and by the people. It is about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. There is NO middle class anymore, just us "working poor" and the super rich. The 2% of the population who have 98-99% of the wealth. If you disagree with me, you must be financially independent, what else do you want me to say?!

double standard reflects the hypocrisy of such theft from the bench...impeachment demands should be made...but buckeyes are not good protectors of the constitution and proved ot over and over during the time of rhodes at the state helm

...now the judges are just following suit and grabbing more because...uh...they can

IMPEACH the problem; they'll get the message just from the effort---believe me, judges don't want to give up their dipping position on the gravy train any more than any other crooks would, so even the effort alone would rein theives like hoover in...hoover belongs in jail for what he has done, but sending him home is just as good

Chief Justice Moyer is also on the war path against mayors courts. Guess what? Most mayors courts don't gouge the people as bad as municipal courts. Their court costs are like $50-70. The Falss is $130. Amazing.
And have you seen the HUGE courthouse Judge Hoover is building?
Now, here is finally a person who gets it! Why should we have a Muni Court build a luxury palace in a time of recession, when people are losing their homes. Ohio has hundreds of local municipalities that have the facilities to hold court, and at no extra cost. Mayor's Courts are the most efficient courts in Ohio. Don't be fooled by the name either - the majority of Mayor's Courts are presided over by a Magistrate. Their court costs are low because their overhead is low. How much sense does that make?
For those of you who protest the moneymaking aspect of the courts - just exactly how do you think Cities generate revenue to pay for their operating expenses? There are only 2 possibilities - a local income tax and the police dept. It's not like the State of Ohio has in place a 'local operating expense fund' that they just dole out when a City says, "Here's my bills, now give me some cash." Why shouldn't a City keep ticket money in their own zip code rather than let the Muni Court have it all to support their greed? Cities that send their traffic tickets to the Muni Court are crazy - they receive a mere pittance of the money collected by the Muni Court - if any! I must agree with many of the posts out here - the writer of this article really has no idea what he is talking about. He should have asked questions until he clearly understood the details before putting together a nonsensical bunch of jibber-jabber.

Hoover is the worst kind of judge, one who abuses his power and then points the finger at criminals,
like he is any better than them. He mugs people with power instead of a gun.

It's time to clean house people, I am to the point where I think we should vote them all out of office and get in new blood. Once politians or judges are in office too long they begin to get the idea that they are above the law, not part of it.

Robart & Plusquellic look like Mousillini & Hitler.
They really do !!
One day I'll vacation the Hiking Trail that will cross the Bailey Road Railroad Bridge (1850) I remember when my "Office" opened in 1958( before going to Baughman St in Akron) next to that factory.
It'll reflect upon Ksrispy Kreme Coffee,Kool Cigarettes and a morning newspaper.
All the poetry or building blocks will reconstruct Amerikana Indianer Art surviving the Nut Game of "Screwbrains"," Fathead" "Moses The Terrorist Queer" & The Six Katholik Kids from The Fourth Street Barberton Projects !!!!!
Tiddy Baby & Spike NEVER had a chance.
Now with Hitler & Mousillini in CONTROL I feel like Desi Arnez LOCKED out of Cuba.
But yes Ernie the Squrriel and Chuckie The Possum make those Totem Poll reviews of Sanity really, really,REAL!!!!
Oh yes keep burying the above. There' all NUTS !!!!!

Dude,
Times change. Hey, they don't build tires in Akron anymore. You know why? Because it was cheaper to build them in North Carolina, then Mexico... Go to a gas station and buy your Krispy Kreme, smoke a Kool cigarette and pass to the ether...

Pssst...I was also saying it was a conflict of interest as it stands now. Judge builds new building he wants with money he levies on people he found guilty.

Public Relations must be non-existent in the Falls. With their ticket-happy officers and shanghi court fees; a lot of people will be finding alternative ways around the city.

Glad someone is shedding light on the REVENUE POLICE.

Just like it said it the article, no one challanges it. That's the way it is with everything anymore. We need the 60's mentality of questioning everything again. Start the Revolution or it will only get worse.

The quotas imposed on the cops don't help--especially when the order to write more tickets comes from the court.

I for one won't be contributing to this fundraiser. Why? Because I renew my driver's license on time. I renew my vehicle tags before they expire. I don't park where it is prohibited to do so. If you think the costs are excessive, then obey the laws and you won't have to pay the costs.
