WHEN I am elected Sheriff - I will help Aurora/Edward any way I can. I will see to it that the support and coverage is there. If Aurora is without its own law enforcement (again, for any reason), I will make sure it has County coverage and protection. They'll be no more leaving the "south side" of the river to deal with their own problems.
I was told last week that Jordan stated during a meeting that "you can't win an election with Aurora"... that might be why he hasn't cared to show Aurora any respect. Jordan is busy “pulling the wool” over on people in Washington. All I can do is try at this point. I've been knocking on doors, putting myself out there talking to citizens, asking for votes - still am. In less than 14 days it will be up to you to make a change. You can pick a businessman who sees what the problems are in the county and has the backbone to fix them OR you can keep the Sheriff you have – which gives you nothing. Jordan’s Office is a lot like the Wizard of Oz, IF you (the citizens) could see what goes on behind the scenes you’d realize there is no magic, only smoke and mirrors. It’s time for a change. I think you are looking at the right path to bring in people and business. A motel here? Who would use it? Thoughts out of the box one could say: A motel would provide construction workers and sales people as well as visiting engineers and a host of people a place to spend there money in the local economy.{ note with what facilities that are available, could be increased based on demand for such services}: The boat ramp in Aurora is free: Duck hunters and fishermen abound, one can see this every year here. Advertising in a fishing and hunting magazine mentioning a boat ramp with no fees, water access to the Pamlico Sound and the inland water way are a plus if one looks at it. But where does one stay while they use these facilities? Construction workers would most likley be the biggest users with the hunting and fishing season filling in gaps during slow periods. Camping or RV spots are being worked by others in Richland township who see the potential longer term. The forum seems to lack people who support area growth. I could care about local politics but business development would be a real point of interest. I know this is tied to politics especially in small towns and areas. Big fish in a little pond syndrome. Some one has to take the lead sometimes and often it is one who is not involved with local politics are the accusations thereof. Auroa is composed of what, just Aurora, I beg to differ Have made a few comments and looking for fed back Made no spell check, john |

Aurora seems to be a unique little town. I've been through it a few times and get the impression most people don't WANT the town to grow.
I needed money so stopped by the bank. It's scary that they have some contraption to lock you in between the doors before entering or exiting the building. You can't just walk in, you need to open a door, step in, wait for it to close, then open another door and your stuck if someone else opens a door. Is that necessary in a tiny home town bank? I mean how Unfriendly is that??? Kids run around with their pants down. I know it happens everywhere, but looks worse in a small town trying to push the family environment. Housing is expensive there when compared to the surrounding areas. Plant flowers, put in parks. Variety, I think there is only one place to get gasoline? The same place that charged me to use me bank card which I've found out you can only use free if you belong to the quirky bank down the road. Extremely friendly people. The people I spoke with when there were all very friendly. I stopped at a little cafe and had a wonderful lunch where everyone knew each other and were having fun. I next went to a dollar store but I guess they are re-modeling because there were boxes and things all over the place, I couldn't get down the aisles. Tax incentives for businesses. Go in search of businesses to come to your town. Offer discounted utilities for a period of time or some incentive.... Find a successful town and copy them. |

To passerby, that quirky little bank has been robbed twice and that entry system is for the safety of the employees. Citizens appreciate this security device for them. We are happy that you visited us....come back soon!

There needs to be an employer besides PCS to bring people to Aurora. If you haven't noticed, the town doesnt look so attractive if you drive around a bit. Needs to be cleaned up. Get some better Gas stations that at least have card swipes at the pump. The smaller buisnesses here charge high for things 30 miles away are better and cheaper. We have alot of people taking advantage of the location issue. Me, ill drive the distance to get good service and price, even with the cost of fuel.
