I went to Apple Valley High School with Eric. He was a devious kid. One day, he joined three of his friends, along with his sister and went to a mall with the intentions of stealing some purses. One of those individuals stole a purse and the reward was that the treee friends got to make out with his sister. When she tried backing out, Eric made sure she carried through

I knew Eric very well and I all I have to say is that he is the craziest person I have ever met. I mean in a very scary way. He would do the most psychotic things. I soon learned that he fit the profile of a sociopath to a T.

I was introduced to Eric by a mutual friend..He seemed like a great guy. I Played a couple of rounds of golf with him. Normally you can get a rough idea about somebody by the way they play the game of golf. That theory is thrown out the fucking window.

I am godmother and aunt of Eric. We are ofcourse devastated with no answers for this situation. Could I ask you which sister Kate, the youger or Jeenie the oldest. It is just a question I need to know and also did you see any other dynamics in the home between children and parents? We were aware that Eric was a bit on the strange side but we don't even know if he graduated. Usually everything was done in a very festive manner, but, we just don't know much of anything. Terry, Eric's dad was my husbands brother and the loss will never end, even after the court trial. Thank you Donna Hanson

I am Eric's aunt and godmother. My husband was Terry's brother. Our lives have been shattered and whatever happens to Eric will not affect us - unless he is running loose. We noticed strange behavior over thwe years but were told he was getting help and so we wondered but did not get involved fiquring Terry and Mary were trying the best to help him. Are there any other incidents that might shed a light on his behavior for the family. This has been hell on the dynamics of the entire family. Thank you for listening

he told all of us at work that he had a day job selling insurance and that he played golf in college and was a pro but hurt his back. then i found out he never ever graduated high school and never even went to college in michigan or somewhere and he was in prison for home invansion. he also had a friend come into work and tell him his sister died in a car accident so he could get the weekend off. we all chipped in some money, because he was going to miss work. he took the money and thanked everyone for understanding, thing is, his sister never died in that car accident. just an evil soul
i hope he gets ass raped so bad he has to shit out of a bag though a tube. i also heard that he did all these killings and then got on a plane and went to los angles to be with his ex fience and went to see a neil diamond concert then flew home the next day and got caught in wisconsin

Donna I can not begin express my sympathy for you and your family. I know what you guys have gone through very few people could understand. Like I said before I was very close to Eric and he did the strangest things and I knew there was something a little phychotic about him. Because I had never been close to someone like that I could not pin point it. I thought that perhaps he was a pathalogical liar among other things. When I learned what had happen it confirmed some things to me. This situation has made me less niave and more critical when letting people into my life.

I was working in Naperville, IL, at the time of the murders. I didn't work too far from where they took place. I remember hearing about it while at work and everyone was just in shock. We didn't know if it was a random act so we were all a little scared. I worked at a mortgage firm and one of the loan officers there was friends with the young man who was killed. It was just such a tragic waste of people's lives. It was so senseless, did Eric think that by killing his family no one would find out about his problems and he could just go on with his life?? From what I am reading here, he just wasn't a "normal" guy. But how can you tell someone will do this? There are a lot of freaky people that don't resort to murder. It's just another sad story out there.

I was friends with Kate and the whole family. They were always so welcoming to me. Kate rarely talked to me about her brother, but I know she always tried to help him out of jams. She was such a loving and thoughtful person and I know she got that from her mother. I recently have been having dreams that Kate is still alive and well. Boy do I wish that were true.
Donna,
do you know when the trial is going to be I want to make sure I am there!

I knew Eric more than I wanted to about five years ago. There have only been a few people that I've hated on sight and he was one of them. There was a frightening recklessness in the way he lived his life and he seemed to be happy only when he was pulling others into his failed world. I banned him from my house. He was the only person I ever did that to. I wasn't scared of him as a person, rather it was his actions.
I sincererly hope that the remaining days on his shortened life will be spent in perpetual fear for his safety, because I know he won't be tormented by any type of remorse for what he's done.

I knew and worked with Kate back in the early to mid 90's. She was so sweet and funny and I just can't beleive this happened. I remember her talking about her Brother and some stories.

Although I had not seen her in over 10 years, I find myself missing her so much.

Please, does anyone know when the trial is. DuPage county case information lists his next court date as Mar 22 but not what type. I knew Eric briefly and would like to follow this trial if at all possible. Thank you!

Donna,
I am so sorry for your loss. If you come back, here is my email leslie13432@gmail.com. I was good friends with Katie for a couple of years. I don't know if it will help, but I would be willing to share with you what I saw. Please know that I saw Terry and Mary as very loving parents, and they tried to help Eric. I don't know if you will ever find all the answers you are looking for, but again, I would be willing to talk. I am praying for your family.

Not sure if this ever came up at any of your family gatherings, but you would've seen this coming at the ripe age of 4 or 5 for Eric. A few of the neighborhood (Hoffman Estates) kids were playing and I was on my bike in his driveway. I'm not sure what set him off, but out of the darkness of the garage came Eric running at me with an ax. Had I not jumped off my bike, I might have lost part of my leg. He proceeded to pound the hell out of my bike with a venom not normally seen in a child. From what I know from one of the neighborhood mothers, Mary had confided that she had real concerns about Eric as a child and what he might eventually be capable of doing.

Eric and I dated for just under 5 years. I got to know Katie, Jimmy, Mary, and Terry very well. They were like a second family to me. I had taken many trips to MN/MI with them and the whole family is filled with great/loving people.

There were many times that the family would have "interventions" with Eric, that seemed to help immediately following, but Eric always went back to his old ways. I am not here to bash Eric or tell stories of his crazy ways. Those types of events don't need to be re-visited, I have come to terms with a lot of them and have decided to move on.

I have seen all these sides to Eric that everyone is discussing here, but I have also seen the caring and sensitive side of him. I am not trying to defend him here, just bringing to everyone's attention that his family was who he most loved. I know that because I have seen it.

Eric also had a very vicious and manipulative side to him. He could get you to beleive whatever he wanted you to. I would not have dated him for so long if I had not been so young and impressionable.

I really feel for Jennie and Devin. They were so close with Katie and Mary, I cannot begin to imagine the loss they feel. So many people were effected by this, there is no place to begin.

Donna, I hope your family is dealing as best they can. Know that there are people out here that pray for you daily.
Not a day goes by that I do not think of the Hanson family. I drive past White Eagle (where Kate lived) on my way to work and it is a constant reminder. I hope your family deals with the trial and everyone can gain some sort of closer upon completion.

eric was and is a compulsive liar. after he was arrested i spoke with him many times and even went to see him. i couldn't believe he was actually capable of the crimes he was charged with. up until the very last conversation we had, every last thing he said was a lie. he is a complete sociopath. he and i discussed his complete lack of compassion and his utter disreguard for others, on several occasions. he had so many differeny veils in his life. he had so many different lives going at once. i never thought his family would be the ones he did so much damage to. he really seemed so love his parents. they helped him out of so many situations and stood by him so many times. i drove past mary and terry's house last week. i saw a mother and her son unpacking in the dining room. it devestates me that eric did this. i am so sorry for the pain he has caused.

Katie and I were good friends for awhile back in Middle School, and I am very sorry for the family's loss. Your family is in my prayers.
I was shocked to hear about this tradgey but not suprised that Eric was behind it. When we were in Middle School I was at their house after school one day and something I don't remember what set Eric off and he came after Katie and I with a kitchen knife. She and I ended up locking ourselves in her room until one of her parents came home. After I told my parents what had happened I was no longer allowed to go over to her house.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Leo

The atmosphere is highly combustible today, with people getting in a stew over the smallest little thing. You will also have a tendency to get hot under the collar, especially if someone isn't doing things as quickly as you'd like. Try to stop yourself getting in a rage because once that happens it will be difficult to cool down again. Maybe you need some fresh air?
