I think that there are definitely some mixed opinions here, and all of the bashing in unnecessary. If people choose to use the Lord and the Gospel as a means to straighten out their life, then good for them. If they choose to spend their time ministering to others that are struggling, then good for them. If she is a sexual offender, then the county and the state has a right to monitor her, but to say or think that she will be there having sex with young boys in the town is not only disrespectful, but a heinous thought. I happen to know of Pete and Shondi, and from what I have seen they are a couple dedicated to using their past experiences to help change the lives of those suffering and living in a life on bondage. You can say that they are "off their rockers" and "bible beaters", but if one life can be changed from that, all the better. It is not right to come on to this forum and bash someone who uses their testimony to try to influence another. You judge this woman and make fun of her grammar, but maybe she was not as fortunate as you to go to college, or was raised in an environment that you have no idea of how to even survive. I was a heroin addict, and went through Teen Challenge. No, I didn't finish because I did not agree with some of the ways the program worked, but it did change a lot of my views in life. I am now a Pre-Law student, at a very good University in New Jersey, and on my way to Law School in a couple of years. Somewhere I probably would not be without the 15 months I spent at Teen Challenge. Honor these people for their sacrifice, rather than belittle them for what they do. You never know, it may be your child, brother, sister, or cousin that may be in the depths of hell on earth and need a program life Teen Challenge, or a Saviour like Jesus Christ to save you from destruction. God Bless all of you that share your testimony on here, and may God be with all of you that are filled with anger and rage towards something positive.

God damn, does your spelling and composition suck, or what?
Mistype? Passionate? I could be dead for two days and write better than you do!
Jesus, schmeezus. If Jesus returned to Earth today, he'd kick you right in the nuts. Put down that damn Bible and read "A Writer's Reference" by Diana Hacker. I used it in college, and if it could help an already good writer like I was, it could help you immensely. When you get down on your knees tonight, ask God to send you a copy. Lord knows, you certainly do need it.
Good writer? HaHaHaHaHa! Who "IN HELL" ever told you that you have good writing skills your parole officer. And, for what its worth, this is a discussion forum not an English assignment. It is my experience that people who personally attack others in this manner are hiding that they really don't have anything meaningful to add to the conversation. Everyone deserve to know the truth as most people deserve a second chance. It seems that this lady paid her debt and is now an important part of our community. Peace and Love:)

I have been struggling with one of my children. 16 and 17 year old's have rights that hinder the ability of parents to access help. Eventually he fell into the system and was given a choice rehab or jail.
It's sad when the state has more control over your child than you do. I was not allowed to be part of the choice of program type. He was sent to a program that was court ordered. I was told that court ordered programs are not allowed to be faith based.
Well the program they sent him to was violent and every visit I saw bruises and cuts. They at all cost protected the program. Thus I continually hit a dead end. Then one day I got a call and the State shut the program down. He is now at a long term adult program.
I came on this blog to look into Teen Challenge as a place God willing he may have as an alternative. I must say that I am not pleased with what I have read. I believe in faith in my Lord and Savior "Jesus Christ". To recover from the grips of addiction it can not happen alone. A divine spiritual change must occur.
I am sorry and for all the hurt and pain expressed within this blog. Intellectual pride blinds us into seeking to make sense in what we may not understand. I have struggled and been angry throughout my life. The only thing that helps me is my belief in Chris and trying to helping others.
I am certain that my son ending up at Teen Challenge is a long shot. But I pray that through one door or another he will receive Christ and the Gospel.
It seems to me that when the chips are down and someone has no where to turn. Teen challenge has a door open and that while their door may be wider than most. It is a door to a faith that has works.
When the community, the parents (me being one of them) and society.
The population regarding the addict is one that is difficult. Closed minds, dishonesty, and complete isolation has placed the addict in a place of complete isolation depending solely on oneself. It does not work.
Teen Challenge is free to enter. Clients may have to work to earn their keep as it should be. Buying my child things never worked and trying to make it better for them never worked either.
I see nothing on this blog that would defer me from wanting and praying for Teen Challenge to continue it's good works.
Best Regards,
Brad D.
"Teen Challenge is free to enter."?????????? Nope, there is an $1100 enrollment fee, plus they work these students asses off and sign them up for food stamps!!! And Teen Challenge KEEPS it ALL!!!! You may not think bad things about them, but then again maybe your family member did not die as a result of Teen Challenge not doing what is a policy from there own Guide!!!

I have read the following comments, and although this may come a little late, I personally stand in the light of Teen Challenge, I also was addicted to crack coccaine, but with the guidance of TC and the knowledge of Jesus Christ I 8 years later can say I am drug free and living for Jesus and I have such great peace that I pray all of those who wrote such negative oppinions would yet one day come to the knowledge of our Lord and savior. I also would not like to be remembered by what my past was, but of who I am today, please do not judge others of what they did but of what they are doing.

I have known about TC since I was a child. Never did I think that someday I would have an adult son in their program. I am grateful for their dedication to helping others. We had no money for rehab and though he works hard, he is changing and becoming aman of God. The Bible states that a man who does not work, shall not eat. I think TC has very strict rules and ways but I also think these are nedded. People's pasts should not hinder them from being in ministry. God can and does chage lives.Thank you TC!
What a testimony to the power of God Who can change a life! Yes this woman made a terrible mistake as a young adult. How many men that age have sex with girls the same age and no one even says anything about it! Just because she is on the registry does not mean she is truly a sexual predator. I have worked for a few years to catch sexual predators and most young adults before the age of 22 who go with teenagers often are just immature and although it is illegal they are not consciously realizing the violations and consequences. Teens are often fast and more sexually active than we would like to think, I am not defending her but there was very little age difference and her whole life now is dedicated to helping others change their lives as she has changed her own. I too graduated from Teen Challenge, The Walter Hoving Home in Garrison, NY which helped me change my life.
Lets be glad that an imperfect person is willing to lay down her life to help other imperfect people find a brand new start in life. I am also praying that she will be removed from the sex offender registry. There are plenty of other more deserving sex offenders to go on there.
Lets pray for this couple and the ministry there and for the success of many who come through its doors.

I have met Shondi and was shocked to see this article. This is not what I would have expected to read about her at all. Thank God for second chances. ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God but God is forgiving and will forgive you and give you a second chance. I pray that all who post here will seek that second chance daily through prayer and repentance.
By the way I think it is important to mention that Shondi is around five feet tall and weighs less than 100 pounds. This is today as a grown, healthy, sober, clean mother of 4. So I can only imagine how small she must have been as a teenager. Did it ever cross your mind that she could have been the victim in this situation but because of her age she received all of the blame. 15 and 16 year old boys can be very strong and agressive and very horny. And how many teenage boys would love to say they made it with a pretty older girl. As I stated earlier we all have made mistakes and done wrong things some worse than others. NO ONE is above reproach. Forgive that you may be forgiven.
