I live to learn

United States

#1 Jan 13, 2011
I read topix just to learn about people. Oh not just to hear gossip. but to try to understand why it is so easy to hate. One name comes up and everyone jumps on it like flies on a dead body. So sometime I respond and say something good and see how long it takes for the story to change. There are people in Augusta that needs to be, as the old saying goes, run out on a rail. I too have a great anger for people who, number one problem is a drug user and living on the government. And some that the police know who they are and just let them go. What is it that they have that we don't. Are they enforments and their drug buddies are too stupid to know. I hope the new Mayor will clean this town up and we all need to kick in and stop complaining and get to work. I love Augusta, and know alot of good hard working people. Take back our town! God bless and come back to Augusta.

You'll learn they'll be those types of people that abuse the system and get away with it. It'll almost always catch up to them. On the other hand the good these types of gov. programs do outweighs the bad. Everyone gets knocked down, it gives a family whose lost jobs, had family changes etc a chance to start over. You'll never hear me complain to know that it put a decent meal in a childs belly.

My grandmother always told me to be thankful in those situations that i've yet to find that kind of despair in life. They've just lost their grace and until they want it again they need help! They don't need locked up they need REHAB. A little HUMILITY goes along way....

A lot of times ppl are simply born into those situations and raised in them. Naturally, its all they know. I do believe there comes a time when one should take accountability but there will always be less fortunate ppl. There aren't enough jobs for everyone to work. So I don't believe in talking about em but rather talking to them. Sn: yes some ppl do abuse the system

i was born in augusta, my mother raise 4children there we where never on food stamps or gov assit. and when the jobs left my mother did. but that wasnt the only reason. she never wanted to become person who depended on the dhs office to provide for us. she never step foot in a project in hindsight she never want us to settle in a very helpless manner. those programs are designed to help for a period of time your never surpose to stay on welfare/foodstamp for the rest of your life thats why there tryin to aprove abill to drug test ppl who are on these program for more than 2years. another how can the courts in augusta be so kind tpo known drug dealers and so hard on ppl with minor traffic ticket this town really got so
messed up priorities

Do u seriously think there are enough jobs for everyone? I can answer that for you. No! So without the gov assistance there would be a lot more homeless hungry ppl. Maybe you're fine with that because u don't have less than. But I'm a realist and I'm not ok with it. I do believe some ppl abuse the system. Even so that doesn't account for the less fortunate that can't work or just doesn't have any luck in life. Thank God for the assistance!

im not on here to debate this and thats why she moved us away so that we would have a better advantage then to subject ourselves to that type of assistance who wouldnt like free money and foodstamps if you can pass a drug test than you can get a job i understand about disable, older people who are on a fixed income you've missed it they've worked the majority of there lives to even recieve benefits.from the gov they paid darely but if you have not ever held a job there are no benefits nothing with your name on in ssi the point is why in hell would you want to stay on these programs for the rest of your living days the truth i know ppl who live in augusta today and back in the days they lived in jets where on foodstamps and today the have a 401k plan, and is still working full time and is almost 70 years old what your saying is its exceptable to you for ppl to us the system but never recover from it.that is why we need to stick and stand together to help each other achieve something instead fighting talking about each other looking on those who you think are nothings aint never been nothing came from nothing and remains nobodies. it takes the village dont destroy it. and you just did by your statements alone.

I don't think you understand. If you take every 18 to 50 year old human being that hasn't worked and is receiving gov assistance and count them up. You will realize that there simply isn't enough jobs. I have been blessed throughout life but I am well acquainted with people who haven't. I can see the through there eyes. Its not as cut and dry as you're trying to make it seem. Dedication, luck, and a little help is what you'll need to get out the "system". Like I said I agree with you about people abusing the system. But there simply is not a job for every able human in America. Do the math

im not saying that there are enough jobs there is enough proof of that what im saying is in between the 18 and 50 years of being on these program had you at any point in life did you stop to think that you can make a chose to get off these program and utilize we what we have already Common Sense.
keep making excuses. you dont even no the half about the look in a person's eyes. you see there need for employment it take years to build a finanical foundation you no that. you also know that there only a few of hireable employees. for all your counting how many have gooten off the programs are ther programs design to help get off.
