Tree Trimmer Breaks Leg In Freak Crane Accident In Haddonfield
The incident happened at about 11 a.m. outside a home in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue in Haddonfield, New Jersey.

This catastrophe was due to poor decision making. The worker cut too large of a log for the crane to handle in order to try and shave time off the job.

There's nothing "freak" about this incident. 100% incompetence on the part of the tree-trimmer.
This happens quite often, and as Bob already stated is due to the trimmer trying to save time by cutting larger sections of tree. Or, if not intentional, then it's the result of inexperience.
