The speed limit for freight trains through Auburn is 55 MPH and 30 MPH in the siding near Emerald Downs. I don't believe the train was going an estimated 80 MPH prior to the emergency brake application as reported. The speed limit on UPRR freight locomotives is 75 MPH. Between Portland and Seattle we do not run over 55 MPH starting at the south side of Longview headed north. Obviously this is an error.

I see, after more research, it was Amtrak running on the BNSF. They do run faster. I was assuming it was on the UP line.
