I've heard that another lure for the Somalis was the generous welfare benefits. Did the reporter miss that in previous coverage? Is it not true? Or was it ignored because of political correctness?

It's comments like the ones from toasted and Harry215 that make me ashamed to be an American.
Why NOT bring their religion along too? It's sounding to me like the Somalis are more peace-loving than the people they've chosen to live with. And probably less prejudiced too.

I don't think it's positive: it just sounds like they've formed another ghetto and eventually, most of them will move away. Small New England cities and towns tend to be insular and businesses are family owned; family members and friends get hired first, last and always.

The case of Somalis in Maine did not start yesterday,once there was a case on the influx of SOMALIS in Maine.But i think it is a right for the Somalis to settle and benefit from the U.S government for they are the people behind the chaos in Somali.

there is 1000 years difference between the host and the guests. so theach those 3500 and let them understand the word RESPECT means. i dont like peole leaving their home because of civil war (the meaningless one in somali) and taking for granted the help they get. in somali people die in hunger and cholera. and these dont want to hear the word pork. what about respecting the culture of the one who give the help. i didnt mean that these 3500 say every day thanks to the neighbour or the police man. but they can show their greatfullness by respecting the culture and low of the host country. do they understadn it? it is a chalenge. otherwise send them for short period where they come from and see if they can appreciat if not learn.

This country was'nt built on this type of immigration.100 years ago immigrants only got what they worked for.Now the new immigrants are on the govt(my)tit.They come here,and don't adapt.If these type of immigrants came 300 years ago,they would have never discovered the mississippi.They would have just stayed on the atlantic coast and stole fish from the indians.

Why are you discussing about Somali immigrants when there is millions of european immigrants who came into you country every year. It's a problem when african or generally non-white immigrants come into you country but not a problem when it's white immigrants. African Immigrants is the most intelligent and hard working immigrants in the US. Just leave them alone they just want a better life like other immigrants.
