Anything to keep the kids busy and active is good. Seems like there's not as many skaters as there used to be...but maybe I don't get out enough.

News Democrat Leader....Oct 13, 2007

The city of Auburn took a step in the right direction toward securing a new skateboarding park at its regular monthly city council meeting on Monday night. After the city was unable to secure a grant to help with the park, a representative from Auburn Baptist Church said at the meeting that the church would be willing to make a donation to help get the skate park project off the ground.(Russellville News Democrat Leader, KY)

Maybe we (you all) should organize a 'skate off' or some other type of skate show/competition. That would tell the city leaders what, if any, interest there is in the project. I'm sure we could get a parking lot(like Auburn Hosiery or the city park) to use for a weekend, just as a trial. I'm sure all participants would be required to sign a waiver for injuries. The meet could act as a fund raiser as well. Remember, no one will take it seriously unless you do, so present your ideas well.

Kids are still skating! A small skate park in Auburn would be a wonderful idea. As a parent of teenagers, I KNOW there are kids still out there skating.
Perhaps more churchs in the area could also throw in a donation to help with the skate park.
Also, to those who say they don't see the skaters: open your eyes.

the churches in Auburn will help a little and I believe that the city has been approved for a grant to build this facility, however, the city also has to meet the grant half way to get it. What I propose is that we should build wooden ramps instead of concrete. And maybe places like Auburn lumber may donate materials instead of moneys.

Here's a novel idea.....why don't some of you pony up the money? Reach into your pockets and give a little instead of relying on others. It has to start somewhere.

Talk is cheap......

Here's a novel idea, how 'bout you do the same.'cause I'm very willing to "pony up" some money and time and whatever else it would take to build these kids a park if it will be used. I'd almost even be willing to do it in my back yard, oh wait, it will be in my back yard, if that's what it takes. These skate parks aren't cheap, dually noted that donations from businesses aren't cheap on the business either. However, without them this project will never be done. But, we can get donations for for another baseball field because that's what "dad's" want there kids to do cause it's a "real" sport isn't it.

I have no interest in supporting a skate park at all. My money will go elsewhere.

I do like your willingness to build one in your backyard. Not a lot of people would attempt to go that far. Good luck in your endeavor and I hope it succeeds.

1) I'm not gay.

2) I am not married, therefore I don't have a wife.

3) Stop playing with yourself. It's really throwing off your judgement.

There aren't as many--probably because they always got in trouble for skating! And, a lot of them are older now.

From what I know, you guys are arguing a point that doesn't need any argument-the equipment has already been ordered and the voluteer firemen have agreed to help set it up. If anyone wants real details instead of speculation just ask Mike Hughes. He can tell you all about it. (I don't know why it says I'm in Horse Branch, I don't even know where that is-I'm in Auburn.)

In my opinion several children are still skating. There is just really no where here to do it. Have you ever been to bowling green and looked over at the skate park on louisville rd. That place is packed. I honestly believe that if we did get a skate park it would give the kids something more to do which could possibly lower the chances of them getting into trouble. It could even lower the chances of drug and alchol abuse w/ the children as well.
