And people believe drug user/sellers are a much more serious problem (see forum SHOREWOOD Teen gets 4 years for selling cocaine).

I am not saying that something shouldn't be done about the drug users/dealers, but wouldn't you feel more safe knowing a criminal such as this is the one doing the 15 years and not a drug dealer who sells dime bags or 50$ bags?

Yes I am a parent. Yes I am worried about drugs. BUT, I also know that just by telling my children not to do drugs is NOT the only way to prevent them from doing drugs.

Putting a person in jail and/or prison for 4 years or more or less time is NOT going to stop them from using and/or selling again. There is NO REFORM in the system. Prisons and jails have revolving doors and if something more serious is not done about this, than NOTHING will ever be solved.

And before anyone spouts off and makes ridiculous comments, know your facts first. I have seen first hand how the system works. I know for a fact what is and what isn't done. Unless you have either worked in the system, been in the system or know someone personally who has been in the system, you really don't have ANY CLUES as to how the system works.

There are no opportunities for convicted persons upon release. How can you expect a person to change their lives and not commit crimes if they have nothing to turn to? Most people deserve second chances. But if those chances are not there, then you allow for repeat offenders of the same and/or multiple crimes.

The real crime is not making more of an effort to reform and re-educate certain criminals.

Why are we always the last to hear? Shouldn't this story have been posted in the Herald or Braidwood Journal? When he went missing, we should have had some warning!!! The system is crap!!! He basically got to live a normal life. But his victims will NEVER have one. I personally don't think sex offenders can be rehabbed, and Tapp is a prime example.

are you kidding me? not ONE person has an opinion on this pervert, or lack of warning? maybe you feel lucky because he didn't hurt you or your family, but that doesn't mean our kids weren't at risk. do you think the girl in aurora is happy that no one was notified of his disappearance? have we all gotten that complacent that we don't care? sorry, but this hits home for me. but being a victim (which I don't wish on anyone), will change your view on this VERY lax system for sexual predators.

I think noone cares because he doesn't live around here anymore and he's in jail. There's no concern to be had anymore. He's in jail, he poses no more threat anymore, worry about something else.

This guy lives right down the street from me. I have posted warnings all over these forums about him. He took off his monitoring system and hurt another child- why the hell was he let out in the first place???? I was wondering if the BPD would be watching his house at Halloween to see if he was handing out candy. My kids are not allowed anywhere near his house!!!!

he does live here. four houses away from our home. we have his internet mugshot posted at our shop and at our home, so our kids never forgot his face because we knew this would happen. they CANNOT be rehabilitated. and two halloween's ago he WAS passing out candy. i watched him hand it to my kids. we didn't know at that point who and what he was. last year he didn't and the police were cruising that street because of reports from the year before and what he had done(i.e. passing out candy) is illegal. i feel for ALL his victim's.

No high horse -- just simply stating facts. It is always so much easier to look the other way and worry about other things. That is EXACTLY why we have so many problems.

I live on Anndon too- and I'm glad he's gone. I didn't post his picture on our fridge but I did print it out and show it to our kids. The sex offender website said that he had an ankle bracelet GPS but the paper said it was in a backpack. A backpack? How does that monitor him? They never should have let him out in the first place.
I feel horrible for that little girl- this could have been prevented.

Does anyone but Rebecca and I get "in jail now?" What about last week when everyone was complaining about how UGLY the new restaurant is or how bad it is to have an animal rescue? He was looking for his next victim!! Sad to say, but thankfully he left Braidwood, because WE all knew about him. We need to come together for REAL issues. So sorry, I worry for my children, but hey, lets blame Sue or the PD for ALL of our problems. I have said it before, NONE of us are angels. NO ONE does do 5 over the limit or has a headlight out, right? These are things the cops SHOULD look for. Also, we should expect them to protect our children from molestation and murder, etc. Yet, we have to bitch and moan about every OTHER thing. If I owned McDonalds, yes I would give them free stuff, IF they could actually defend the city. Get out of your narrow minded Braidwood bubble, and have an opinion on something that REALLY matters. Who cares who will win a wet t-shirt contest?! There are REAL crimes to PREVENT or SOLVE. By the way, isn't a petition brought before the board, DEMOCRACY IN ACTION? Sue actually listened to the people (however small) of Braidwood. This is what representing the people is all about. And, unless you can convince me that you are a victim or you are in law enforcement (not some FAKE wannabe adults), maybe then I will have RESPECT for your comments. I would not wish MY past on anyone. Thank god the length of our skirts does not have to determine if we "we're asking for it." Can the reast of you get out of the 60's and maybe into like 1985?

LOL,unerstand where you are coming from. i sent an email to the mayor recommending that between now and next halloween they have a vote on the halloween issue. that way people can whine at what is voted in by the voting majority. and yes compared to our friendly neighborhood pedophiles, what day trick or treating is on, no matter how much we may dislike the change, is petty.
