Mr. Robert L. Nardelli, CEO
I purchased a Jeep Liberty 2002. It has only been 5 years and this has been the worst engineered, designed and manufactured automobile that I have purchased in the last 15 years. I have been having these manufacturing problems only after 1.5 years of owning the car. I always purchased a foreign made automobile since there quality to detail has been impeccable to the American autos’. Then I had heard a lot about the new Jeep Liberty and I read all the statistic and rating on the Liberty before I purchased it. I knew Jeep had a reputable name.
This automobile has been manufactured the way that America automobiles were manufactured in the 1980’s. There is no quality control, no expert assembly process, and no manufacturing guidelines.
I use my Jeep Liberty for mostly highway driving. I always have it serviced at the suggested time in the warranty. I get an oil change every 3000 miles. This auto is a “LEMON”.
My driver’s seatbelt does not work properly, the clip always gets stuck and I have to use my finger to move it so I can get the seat belt inserted, so I am safe. Then the air compressor and drier have been locking up and not producing cold air. The oil light and engine light keeps coming on. The dealer stated the evap system leaked, so they replaced the hoses to the leak detection pump and at the lower fire wall. That corrected the problem for a while. My car has always leaked some liquid but when I went in to have it serviced the service people could never find which fluid was low. Then the engine light came on again, this time I lost a wire to one of the spark plug wires. So naturally I had to have all the spark plugs changed. That corrected the problem for a while. The oil light now keeps coming on again. The dealer has stating the oil sending unit sensor is malfunctioned and needs to be replaced. It is leaking oil all the time now so I got this fixed. Again, the engine light has come on.. I do not know the reason for this; I have not taken the auto in yet, the oil has leaked over the sensor and burned out the sensor. Now, the lower control rocker arm needs to be replaced. I can not make a complete turn without a strenuous clanking and clashing noise. I did receive a letter from your department staff, but they would not help me. They stated that I should of complained to the dealer. The dealer just wanted to fix the problem and charge me an exuberant price. The staff personnel would not even look to see when the car was made, when the car was made, if there was a problem in the manufacturing of the car, where the parts were purchased. I know that no car should have this many problems like this.
I can not monetarily afford to take the automobile in to be fixed anymore. I have a mentally challenged son who had a brain tumor and needs my undivided attention all the time. We have numerous doctors visits monthly that we have to keep. I can not afford to be on the road with an unsafe auto or on the roadside waiting for a tow truck..
Sincerely,
Donna Mills 1032 Snyders Store Road Wingate, NC 28174
