To quote Justice Brandeis "...the best disinfectant is sunlight".
Perhaps people are seeing David J. Essad for the kind of guy he really is.
I assure you that I am not one and the same. Clearly not everyone believes in a Trinity conspiring against poor, helpless Officer David J. Essad.
I don't think anyone should ever be raped in Jail. Its just not right. Moreover, I would be very surprised if he gets any jail time, even though he may deserve it.
I certainly hope Judge Nancy Towlin-Carniak of 52-3 District is aware of Essads lack of respect for the Court. She only needs to view him on Shelby TV chewing what appears to be gun in her courtroom.
I wonder if she is aware of his credentials as a third degree blackbelt. Perhaps that is why his wife ended up with a broken nose and had to be taken to the hospital.

Mr. "Bob" from Utica...you seemed to have not so eloquently evaded answering my questions. So, I will ask again-- First, why did you post the name of the victim on this site? Second, how do you know where she is living/not living and why would you mention something like that? Stop playing amateur detective and posting personal information. We know who you are.

To "Does it Matter": You are a sick person to say the Victim is your sister. How dare you. And to everyone else reading this, "Does it Matter" is NOT related to the victim.

It's newsworthy isn't it? One only needs to read the Oakland Press to find out. When one reads "We know who you are." One can only think a comment like that geared toward intimidating "Bob". Secondly, if "Bob" is an "Amateur Detective" as you say, why do some wish to suppress his revelations? Its apparent that Officer Essad may have some friends perhaps just as vindictive, misguided and deviant as he is. Its amazing how some will take sides with a wifebeater, particularly when the wife beater was intoxicated, in possession of a firearm while intoxicated, allegegly threatend to kill his wife while brandishing a handgun who also happens to be a Police Officer with finely honed Martial Arts skills. Such a good group of "fellows" you are.

"Jeff" and others are commenting here are Shelby Township cops. He is playing sad for the blog, but is only here to dispute or undermine descent from citizens. They are seeking IP’s, taking names and looking for you. Are you ready?
I only posted once, twice now. The support page was placed strictly to piss off the subject further. See, if you’re an ass, not only will I identify, but also I will incite. Most Shelby Township Police officer are bullies and ass’s. The page may seem timely now, but it has been up 2 years before David Essad showed his true colors to the public. I fear his wife lived in fear for some time before her enlightenment. I also fear there are many other associates of Shelby Township Police officers, many innocent citizens of Shelby Township and many current and past victims of Shelby Township Police officers that will come forward in the future.

How do you know they are seeking IP's? Taking names? Sounds like they just might be looking for a Federal Civil Rights Lawsuit. Let me guess, you are suing them in Federal Court, and one must stand in line?

Who cares wrote: You should be ASHAMED to post with that disgraseful name You're not kidding about that one. It seems like the surname Essad atleast atleast phonetically speaking is synonymous with the brutal dictatorships past and present of Syria and Albania. Specifically Hafez El Assad and Bashar Assad of Syria and Pasha Essad of Albania. Given the brutal treatment of his wife reported by the media, does he have more in common with brutal dictators than we know about i.e. a disreguard for common decency and human rights? Ever wonder what it would be like to have an Officer Hitler serving in a community with considerable Jewish population

I grew up in Shelby, left in '80 and came back a few years later, nothing changed other than 200 more half empty strip malls, the cops have always had a reputation in Shelby, a bad reputation. Small department, they think they can get away with anything, glad I left there. I hope this turd gets a nice ugly boyfriend in prison but somehow I doubt he will ever see jail, the corrupt police and court system will protect him.
Earl and Jeff, the woman's name is a matter of public record, and saying she is no longer living at home means nothing, nobody posted her new address and phone number that I know of, maybe you should leave your parents basement and get a job in the real world, I suggest learning to say "paper or plastic"

Lets see can you say probation, misdemeanor, or loss of job but us tax payers will keep paying him his wages for the rest of his life. These are usually the worse that the boys in blue get from crimes that would send the normal joe to prison for 20-60 years. Boy must be ruff.

What a loser. Who hired this guy to begin with? Makes you wonder what he may have on Township Political Leaders if that is the case.
Makes you wonder about the kind of Police Department people have in Shelby Township. Really not the kind anyone people should look up to.

scott from florida...Jeff and Earl were just feeling that the victim should be protected. DAH, EVERYONE knows that stuff is public record, but there is no point in calling further attention to it. Yeah, you did grow up in Shelby!

Shelby Police officers should not all be given a bad reputation for the alleged wrong doings of one. There are many fine police officers that are employed by this department. The fact that you generalize the entire department as being a bunch of thugs with a badge is proof that you are one of the people that will hate and have a negative attitude towards any and all police officers - until of course you are in need of one. Then they are expected to put their life on the line to defend and protect you.

I grew up and went to school with David Essad. He was an all-around nice guy. He was not the bully that you all are making him out to be. He didn't go around picking fights or looking for more attention than he needed. He was a good kid. First of all, I don't condone what he did to his wife. However, he was an officer working in an increasingly violent world. He lived, laughed, and loved in Shelby Twp so much that he made it his living to “serve and protect” it. However, over the last twenty years, the peaceful town he grew up loving had changed, and whether he knew it or not, he was changing with it. So what happens to a decent individual's psyche when they approach violent individuals and their dwellings day after day? They get tough, become tough, and being tough is what they become to get the job done and to survive - while protecting YOU the citizen. Your freedom hinges on these tough men and women of the uniform. It is happening to our soldiers right now in Iraq and abroad, facing the same kinds of dangers and uncertainties. Call it battle fatigue. It takes a toll on a person. We’ll miss the nice kid David once was. With that said, I believe this fatigue had caught up with him. I don’t know if it was disclosed as to what set him off, but I don't doubt a man like him would loose control over something small. Maybe he found out that the love of his life was cheating on him? Maybe she wasn’t being the homeland support he needed? Whatever the case may be, add some alcohol, and the ability to control one’s self disappears. Even the best of them can loose control. Remember, officers do make enemies among the people they arrest. Don’t let these people influence your opinions on these blogs. Don’t judge David. And don’t be surprised that with the social and moral decay of this country, a good man was destroyed by the very community he was chartered to protect.

Well I didn't go to school with David Essad and really don't care what he did in High School. What bothers me is not only what he did to his wife, but what he may have done to others he came into contact with as a Police Officer. As David Essad knows,"... its all in how you write it up".
The fact that he severely beat his wife, threatened to kill her and pulled his gun on her tells me a lot about his character. The fact that he claims to be a Firearms Instructor, yet carries a couple of guns while getting drunk at a bar tells me even more about him. The fact that he is an accomplished Martial Arts instructor tells me he knows its best to avoid a fight whenever possible. The fact that he is a Police Defensive Tactics Instructor tells me he is capable of restraining others without hurting them too badly.
So just why exactly did his Wife, Julie, suffer a closed head injury, a broken nose, bitten ear and had her hair pulled out at his hands?
Despite the all the alcohol he drank, he still had the presence of mind to lay down prone upon the arrival of Arresting Officers.
Common sense aside, what some fail to understand is that this man knows better and has absolutely no excuse for his conduct.
Given that he knows better, and his status as a Police Officer sworn to enforce and abide by the laws of this country certainly warrant much harsher punishment than an ordinary citizen committing the same criminal acts. He is fully culpable.
He has no excuse and should be severely punished!!!!

And don’t be surprised that with the social and moral decay of this country, a good man was destroyed by the very community he was chartered to protect. First and foremost, I dispute your assertions that the communities of Utica and Shelby suffer from a plethora of social and moral decay. If you base this on crime statistics I suspect that some are making mountains out of mole hills. If he thought so much of Shelby and Utica as you claim why didn't he remain a resident? What David did to wife was no mole hill that someone blew out of proportion to shore up the revenue base of local units of government and line the pockets of the legal community. Secondly, there are many people who have challenging professions and suffer from difficult domestic relations with very few as a percentage of those, savagely beating of killing their spouse. I think he's the kind of guy who loves to dish out harsh treatment to others under the guise of making the community a better place. I'll bet he's made a lot of Lawyers very happy. However he knows better and his guilt appears undeniable. I think its incredible that some choose to defend that man to the degree that they do. Perhaps its the crumbling "Blue Wall" which is suffering moral decay!
