Pit bull attacks girl in Barrow County by The Georgia News Network WINDER - A two-year-old girl is recovering from a pit bull attack in Barrow County.

This little girle is my neice. She is in critcal condition at Egleston Children's Hospital. She has over 200 stitches in her tiny little face and more in the top of her head and back. I have so many photos of this terrible accident. She was a beautiful little angle, now her tiny face looks like a jigsaw puzzle. This is the wrost thing our family has ever encountered.

Oh my goodness, that is so horrible, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I never liked Pit Bulls, and this gives me more of a reason not to. I'm sorry for this tragedy among this family.

i can understand that a child has been hurt. but it does not have to go as far as saying "pitbulls" as a whole, when it was ONE that did this. these are NOT hateful animals, and if you knew the history of the breed, and by this, i do NOT mean the media. you might get a little insight. i can bet you that the dog that attacked this child was not an actual "american pitbull terrier" i can almost garuntee that it was a breed of similar traits. there are MANY that resemble the so called "pitbull" but so you know, the REAL american pitbull terreir was bred to be absolutely NON-human aggressive, it is the poor breeding and breed mixing that causes this human aggression. to the family of the child, i apologize that you have to go through this, i am sorry for you ordeal. best wishes....a long time member of the "american pitbull terrier" communtiy.

i am sorry for your child being hurt. i dont see specifics but it sad-ins me to hear that you blame the dog. the one to blame is the owners!!!! I love my pit bull. he is like a kitty cat. with responsible pet owners this breed is wonderfully. it is people who exploit there strength. human fault not animal. they do what we teach them. i hope your daughter is well. buy an American pit bull terrier to show her love

Who should be blamed is the owner. Pit bulls raised by responsible owners are no more vicious than a poodle. Something is amiss. Upon investigation, I will assure you either the present owner has trained this dog to be a killer, or a previous owner has done so.

Poor baby, I feel so sorry for the child. I can imagine the terror and pain she must have suffered. My sympathy to the family, I hope the baby will be ok.

I am so sorry that this happened to your child. These are are hateful and I don't know why people have them. We have them in our neighborhood and I can't stand them. A few people have found their cats dead and we found our's dead today. I think those damn dogs did it.It sounds like David needs some professional help. You are a crazy and cruel sob.

I have a Pit Bull and i also have three children. They adore him, just as much as he does them. Im so sad to hear your misfortune. The owner of the animal should be jailed indefinitly. Not all Pits are like that, just the ones that are trained or mistreated,starved,beatin.

I am sooooo sorry! I hate that some poor child had to suffer because some idiot has mistreated his dog. I am sure she may never fully recover, emotionally. I know it would be hard for me. She is in my prayers. Unless police had access to this dogs paper I doubt it could be accuratley labeled as a pit bull. True pit bulls have NO human agression. Unforunately too many stupid humans have been allowed to over breed and mix breed this type dog. In doing that they have created a very popular, but unstable dog. In saying that...ANY dog that is kept away from humans will bite.

I'm curious how many times do we have to read or see news about a Pit Bull attacking this person or that person before we will realize that pit bulls carry inherint violent genes. Genes that can be exaccerbated when they are raised to fight other dogs or when thay are treated cruelly by their owners.
Now I understand that this is not limited to the Pit Bull dog, but is also the case in many other dog breeds, Rotties, Dobermans, even Dalmations, and Golden Retrievers who are fiercly prtective family dogs can become violent when provocted or mistreated. The same can be asid for just about every breed of dog, but there are those who have a predispotion to violent behavior. Dogs that are known to be aggressive animals and we constantly continue to let these breeds of dog into our homes and neighbohoods around children who can provoke an attack without meaning to do so.
Do I have a solution to the problem, unfortunately not. But then it's not my place to say what is right for someone else.

first of all my wishes go out to your family. i hope your little girl recovers quickly. i understand your hatred toward the animal. but please reconsider the hatred of the breed. i am in contact with a lot of pits in my area and have never seen any agression from the ones that are well cared for. they are like any other dog. i would like to add that a lot of pits in my area are mistreated and it saddens me to know that they will some day be dead or hurt somebody. again best of luck with recovery

Feel really sorry for what happen to the little girl. Where was the mother its the mothers responsibility to watch her child. Pit bulls aren"t the only breed that attack humans, it can be any dogs so don't be hating on pit bull. I think that it was ALSO the mothers fault for not watching her little girl. Hope she recovers
