Why are the “considering” charging him???

PLEASE put smart people on this jury. Idoits like this Brooks kid need to be taken off the road. What is with Barrow County drivers? When I went to WBHS there was a such thing as Drivers Ed. Have they done away with this now? Seems to me that Parents arent doing their job in teaching their teens that driving is a SERIOUS RESPONSIBILITY. I say any driver that commits a CRIME like this should be punsihed to the fullest extent of the law.

i admit that people should be smarter when it comes to geting in the car but don't bring the whole county into what your talking about because there are people who care about the boy so next time you say something like that you should probably say it to yourself or not at all.

I for one am not making a comment at the county just in general about driving and accidents and charges.
As for the other person probably making a generalizations about todays youth as a whole.

Do you people know what the word "accident" means? He was young and dumb yes but it was an accident. A horrible tragedy. My prayers go out to the loved ones that have lost and to the survivors because their lives have changed forever. Parents can do so much when they release their children into the world. I knew this boy personally. He was not a bad kid...just a kid that made a HORRIBLE mistake. Frightening to let kids drive. I have three teenagers and am overly strict to keep them in line with the driving issue. Yes, Mr. Brooks must pay for what happened and he will pay the rest of his life with the horrible memory of replaying over and over in his head....if he survives.

Again, my prayers are with all that were involved. Children just don't see the danger because they have not been on this earth long enough to have learned.

This is getting ridiculous. Seems like once every week we have another fatal collision on our roads here in Barrow county. I've lived here for 16 years and can't remember anything like this. I wouldn't be surprised if our auto insurance goes up in the next six months. Any readers out there keeping score? What's the body count up to?

why do kids think they are the only ones on the road? Killing two great people is senseless.

Ahh but it's not just the kids it's not even age restricted I see people my age drive like this I watch eldery people drive this way. There is nothing other then people getting in cars thinking I'm cocooned in steel and safe. Get there fast as I can and if someone dare go the speed limit in front of me get out of the way.
Watch next time you are out and about. No age gender or any boundaries on the drivers who speed.

Its because adults think they too are the only ones on the road. Lets face it the test to get your privilege (note I did use the word right) drive is too easy. Make the test difficult, 50% should fail on the try.

It sounds like this was an accident and it should be dealt with that way. If a wild animal had run onto the road and caused this accident, but survived would some of you be saying the same things? Could it have been prevented? Yes. Of course, all accidents can be prevented.

This "accident" would not have happened if the driver of the Neon had not been impatient. He clearly broke a driving law by crossing the double line. As a direct result of his actions three people are dead. I don't see where there should be any contemplation about charges. This is a clear cut case of vehicular manslaughter if not homicide. More likely manslaughter as I'm sure he didn't "mean" to kill anybody, however he did intentionally cross that line.
