As far as I know the Auburn Rodeo just had their 76th year. If you have ever looked at years of newspaper articles archived the same story appears year after pertaining to the competition. The contestants have an opportunity to receive scholarships if and when they go on to Miss Rodeo California or Miss Rodeo America. They have to win a local competition to be eligible to go on to these contests. Ask 3 generations of queens from the Auburn Stampede. From Sabrina Rawlins to her sister Brandi and the latest Marilyn Glasgow. They'll tell you the FACTS on the Miss Auburn Stampede. Mrs.Shier needs to do her homework before taking misconstruded information to the public!Sorry Mrs Shier's daughter didn't win but being a contestant means always being congenial- win or lose!

As the Auburn Rodeo Queen for 2006 I can vouch for the fact that I was never promised scholarship money and am just finishing my degree at Chico State. As far as I know the committee has never given any money away, just allowed for the opportunity for further competitions. Representing Auburn was an amazing experience, trifling over this matter is going to destroy the good in it all.

Comments Elizabeth is a true and congenial Queen. Thanks for stepping up to the plate and speaking the truth amongst hopes wishes and person trying to cause defamation to a great organization!Funny we keep hearing from Mrs Shier but nothing from her daughter who actually ran for queen not her mother.I hope all the past Queens and contestants write in and show the real truth.Or better yet ask Norma Fox whom directed the competition for over 10 years.Or really do your homework go to the Journal and look at 15 years of articles on the Auburn Stampede Queen Competition. The competition rules and benefits are laid out in print every year. That will speak the facts not a hungry new reporter for the Journal who twists peoples comments and a spiteful mother.
